http://ktmb.virtualmalaysia.com/mediafile/imms/vmwm_350.gif

Located in a small town called Gemas, this station, built in 1922 is functional till today as a changeover (stopover) for trains from the North (Butterworth), East Coast (Tumpat and Gua Musang) and the South (Singapore). Other than passenger trains, the station also accommodates cargo trains carrying major commodities such as cement, petrol, rubber and logs.

The station building has maintained its original structure and even now still houses two 1946 model North British Locomotive Company steam engines. If you are into nostalgia, do not miss the opportunity to strike a pose with these steam engines. In case you run into any difficulties, do not hesitate to ask assistance from the Station Master. In charge of all the operations; signalling, locomotive and sales, he will gladly come to your assistance.

If time permits, stay overnight in this small peaceful town. Savour the feel of fresh air in your face, the tranquil peace of the night and enjoy a respite away from the crowded scene of city life. You may also choose to tee-off to a round of golf at the 18-hole Gemas Golf Resort, a mere five minutes drive from the station.

KTMB kaya artifak sejarah

Oleh Riadz Radzi
riadz@hmetro.com.my

last friday bawak anak anak (3 org - 11, 10 & 2 yrs old) naik keretapi gie jb, hubby dah gie early that morning with car.nak biar diaorang rasa naik keretapi.my last train trip was nearly 20 yrs ago rasanya.Last time cuma naik 2nd class je, but this time sebab bawak anak kecik, kitaorang naik 1st class.once in train, kita boleh tengok the locals or singaporean yg naik 1st class ni, orang putih semua naik 2nd class jer.nak kata best tu, biasa je lah, still a train, in 1st class you could use the lounge kat sentral 1 hr before departure and welcome drink (whatever you want within their menu of course - kalau ko mintak cappucino ke expresso tak dak ler).kerusi dia worn out, handrest dia ada yg dah pecah pecah - i think ktmb should think about refurbishing these coaches.cumanya toilet dia agak bersih sket dari dulu la (2nd class) coz there are people who cleans it every now and then.ada suratkhabar.seat dia 3 in a row instead of 4.my kids love the 6 -hr journey and they are asking to go for the night train plak ... i always love to gaze out from the window to see the scenery and the greenery along the way ...
