DBKL will be joining KLCC to switch off non-essential lights of the Petronas Twin Towers on 29 March. The Mayor’s “I Will If You Will” pledge is he will cycle to work from his residence for 5 days if 150 commercial buildings in Kuala Lumpur switch off their non-essential lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm that evening.

Switch-off lights for one hour during Earth Hour 2014, urges WWF Malaysia
Earth Hour will be observed throughout the world for an hour starting at 8:30 p.m. according to local time on 29 March this year. Its organizer, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) launched the idea in 2007 in Sydney, Australia to make a stand against climate change. Over two thousand businesses and 2.2 million individuals participated in the cause. Since then, the movement has drawn global interest as people around the world turn off unnecessary lights and electrical appliances to reduce wastage and overconsumption.
