Choi Ji-woo turns Twenty Again for tvN rom-com

Choi Ji-woo is strengthening her ties to cable station tvN (after participating in the most recent season of their marquee variety show, Grandpas Over Flowers), signing on to headline an upcoming drama with them, Twenty Again (literally, Twenty for the Second Time).
The series is the one formerly titled Our Heaven, which first courted Go Hyun-jung to play the role of a thirty-eight-year-old woman who enters college alongside a bunch of twenty-year-old schoolmates. (I don’t think the title means the character is masquerading as a twenty-year-old, rather that she’s living out the life of the standard twenty-year-old.) As it’s a light romantic comedy, I’m happy to see that they’ve changed the title to something that fits the genre more than Our Heaven, which always struck me as more of a melo sounding name.
As a high schooler, Choi Ji-woo’s character once dreamed of being a dancer, but those thoughts fell to the side when she met her husband and had a child at nineteen. She spent the next two decades as a housewife and mother, focusing on her university professor husband and her son Min-soo, but eventually decides to go after her university education. She’ll join the entrance class of 2015 and struggle to figure out how to adapt to campus life as a married ajumma, which is such an unusual circumstance that her classmates don’t quite know what to make of her.
I’m curious to see how the rom-com aspect comes into play if she’s already married, but I suppose she can always rediscover the romance in her existing marriage. Or maybe they’ll go the Angry Mom route and mine the sweetness and comedy of a youngster harboring a crush on the pretty ajumma, even if it doesn’t go requited. (Bok-dongie will forever have my heart!)
Twenty Again will be written by the 49 Days and Two Weeks writer and directed by PD Kim Hyung-shik of Suspicious Housekeeper and Sign. It’ll follow Oh My Ghostess as tvN’s next Friday-Saturday drama, premiering at the end of August.

Actor Lee Sang Yoon and Choi Ji Woo will be reuniting in an upcoming drama.
The two actors have been confirmed for tvN‘s new drama “20 Years Old Again.”
Lee Sang Yoon will portray Cha Hyun Suk, a theater professor and successful producer. In the drama, he will run into Choi Ji Woo’s character Ha No Ra, his first love from high school, who also ends up as a freshman student in his university class. Choi Ji Woo’s character Ha No Ra will be a 38 year-old mother who goes back to school to fulfill her dreams, after having to give it up in her 20′s for her family.
Lee Sang Yoon has previously worked with Choi Ji Woo in his debut drama, “Air City.” “20 Years Old Again” is expected to go into productions in July, and it will premiere in August.

A Pink’s Son Na Eun to Star in New Drama Alongside Choi Ji Woo
It has been reported that A Pink’s Son Na Eun will be making her return to acting with a brand new tvN drama!
On July 20, a representative of A Cube Entertainment shared, “Son Na Eun has been cast in the drama ’20 Years Old Again.’ Her appearance has been confirmed.”
The A Pink member is said to take on the role of Oh Hye Mi, a classmate of the main female character of Ha No Ra (played by Choi Ji Woo). Many are already expressing anticipation to see Son Na Eun and Choi Ji Woo act as “friends,” as they are 21 and 40 years old, respectively.
“20 Years Old Again” tells the story of a woman who became pregnant at the age of 19 years old, and has lived as a mother for 20 years before deciding to go back to school experience campus life for the first time. The cast and crew are set to begin filming about the middle of July and the drama is expected to premiere around the end of August.

Kim Min-Jae will play Kim Min-Soo. His character is the son of Ha No-Ra (Choi Ji-Won).
He enters the same university with his mother, who has decided to go back to college.

Choi Won-young to play Choi Ji-woo’s husband in Twenty Again
Ah, we finally find out more about Choi Ji-woo’s husband in her new tvN drama Twenty Again, now that the role has been cast. Choi Won-young (I Remember You) has signed on for the part, which is bound to make the love triangle interesting because he’s so good at being charismatic no matter the character he plays (he’s especially compelling and creepy in his current drama I Remember You). Okay, so admittedly I won’t be THAT conflicted — she might be married to the guy, but come on — Lee Sang-yoon.
The coming-of-age drama stars Choi Ji-woo as a woman who became a wife and mother at 19, and gets a second chance to experience college life when she decides to go back to school twenty years later. Her husband fell in love with her at first sight when she was an 18-year-old dancer, but he’s a professor of psychology who looks down on her for not being college-educated, and eventually asks for a divorce. Well now I’m already rooting for her to stick it to him.
His character is a master at crafting his image, and an intellectual snob who thinks and acts on his own. He believes he’s extremely mature, but he’s actually a person whose actions are quite different from his words. We don’t know if they’ll already be divorced by the time she shows up as a student on his campus, or if winning him over is part of the reason she goes back (or if he’s embarrassed because she goes back to school), but it should make for a pretty good conflict.
Added to that is of course her reunion with first love Lee Sang-yoon, who will be a professor in the theater/film department. I’m just glad to know that he actually has a shot at this romance, given that all we’ve heard in the casting stories until now is that she’d have a husband. Her son (Kim Min-jae) and his girlfriend (Sohn Na-eun) will be her fellow freshman classmates, because yunno, this is dramaland and there’s only one university in the entire world.
Twenty Again follows Oh My Ghostess in August.
