Urmila looks for a comedy

Ramu's one time favorite actress Urmila Matondkar has lost her 'Rangeela' image and is currently under the influence of ghosts following her performances in 'Bhoot', 'Kaun' and 'Naina'. Now, she is playing serious roles in Pankaj Parashar's 'Ek Dhool Banares Ki' and Syed Mirza's 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara'. However, she feels tired of doing such roles and wants to return to her earlier image by acting in a comedy . In this context, she mentions about the comedies played by Madhubala, Geeta Bali, Hema Malini and Sridevi. She regrets that the producers and the directors are not offering her comedies. Are they listening?

Mahima is not out

A pretty face of Bollywood who began her career in Subhash Ghai's 'Pardes' and made a name for her performance, later had many flops to her credit. This is Mahima Choudhary. She is still confident of making a dent in Bollywood though her career is in doldrums. She is waiting for an opportunity to make it up. Now, she is banking on Sunil Darshan's 'Jalte Hain Jiske Liye' and Fardeen Khan's 'Maati'. Besides, she is also hoping on Iqbal Durrani's movie 'Gandhi Se Pahle Gandhi'. Since she failed to make a name for herself despite her best performances in a number of films, Mahima has decided to concentrate on her roles as a challenge rather than bothering about the kind of roles she gets.

Amitabh to act in film on Mandela

Bollywood's Big B Amitabh Bachchan has expressed a deep interest to work in Shekhar Kapur's forthcoming film based on Nobel laureate African apartheid leader Nelson Mandela. "I have met Mandela twice and he showed lot of affection towards me. I was highly impressed by his ideology and I even visited the island where the African leader was imprisoned... I would feel lucky even if I am able to get a very small role in the movie," he said. Bachchan added that he had earlier met the producer of the film, Anand Singh. He is also working in a Rituparno Ghosh film based on life of Satyajit Ray.

LIP TO LIP KISSING BY KAREENA KAPOOR

Kareena Kapoor has excelled all Bollywood actresses. The moviegoers have watched smooch queen Mallika Sherawat giving scores of kisses in her move. Similarly, Karisma Kapoor in her 'Raja Hindustan' with Aamir Khan had enacted a memorable kissing scene. But Kareena Kapoor has gone several steps ahead of all of them by enacting a lip-to-lip kissing scene in Govind Nihlani's movie 'Dev'. People are anxiously awaiting to watch Bollywood's boldest ever-kissing scene. It is wondered if Kareena Kapoor would bag a national award as obtained by her sister Karisma Kapoor in 'Raja Hindustani's' smooch scene.

Kareena is aggressive elsewhere too. She was 'violent' when asked about her personal affair vis-୶is her boyfriend Shahid Kapoor. She is very possessive about him. A recent incident is significant inthis respect. After her shoot in 'Fida' with Sahid Kapoor in a speedboat, Shahid Kapoor took Kareena Kapoor away for a candle light dinner. When asked about it she told us that she would kill any other woman who had an eye on Shahid. " I do not mind being put behind the bars for killing any woman who dared have an eye on Shahid." This established her possessiveness.

Another incident about Kareena Kapoor is also noteworthy. She feels jealous even if any other actress reaches her designer. Interestingly, Preity Zinta one of the most popular actresses of Bollywood these days, went on a shopping spree. When asked she said she is busy in changing her summer wardrobe. And for that she reached to Manish Malhotra, her dress designer. Since Manish designs Kareena Kapoor's clothes too, she felt very disturbed when she found out that preity gets her dresses designed by Manish Malhotra. Now, Kareena is eager that Manish better concentrate on designing her dresses rather than obliging his other client, who happens to be Kareena's competitor in films.

Zayed Khan has his own style

Sanjay Khan's son Zayed Khan is known for his excellent acting in Shah Rukh's 'Main Hoon Naa', and has thus won the heart of the producer-actor. Zayed Khan is also known for his other funny things. His hairstyle, clothes and choices of shoes are few of them. He is not far behind other actors in displaying his muscular body, and for that he often found wearing sleeveless baniyans. He chooses to wear white shoes, once worn by yesteryear's actor Jitender in seventies. Besides, Zayed wears dancing shoes with trendy blue heels and filled with water.

Abhishek to do item number

Abhishek Bachchan is getting ready to do an item number though of international rage titled 'One Love' of Blues. This song has been hanging fire for the last two months. In fact, Abhishek went to Singapore to dance to Vaibhavi Merchant's item number in Mahesh Manjrekar's 'Rakht', being produced by Suniel Shetty. Suniel says he has already obtained permission to do its Hindi version to be performed by Abhishek. The tract is about style attitude, he adds

Big B, son in Ramu's 'Sarkar'

Bollywood director Ram Gopal Verma has decided to sign on Big B and his son Abhishek Bachchan in his forthcoming movie 'Sarkar' which is a remake of the Hollywood movie 'The Godfather'. Abhishek will play the role of son of Amitabh Bachchan. And act as 'The Godfather's Marlan Brando. Amitabh will act for Michel Corliyon. According to Ramu, he will present Amitabh Bachchan in a new style, and is confident that both the father and the son will find it interesting to act together in 'Sarkar'.

Vikram Bhatt to repeat with Big B

Vikram Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan have worked together in 'Aetbaar' and would repeat it in Ramesh Sippy's forthcoming movie, starring Paresh Rawal. Vikram says that he has seen Big B shooting with his father in 'Khuddar' and 'Kalia'. However, his experience of working with Amitabh has strengthened his views about Big B. " I find a great actor in big B."

Saree ties Sushmita in 'Main Hoon Naa'

The former Miss World Sushmita Sen, who has acted as a chemistry teacher in the recently released 'Main Hoon Naa', is very happy that her desire of acting with Shah Rukh Khan has been While acting as Chandni in the movie, Sushmita had to wear a chiffon saree. She says she was reminded of her political science teacher in her school who always wore a chiffon saree. Sushmita has revealed that the movie's director Farah Khan had tied this saree on her with the help of 25 safety pins. She wonders whether she tied the saree or the saree tied her!

MAHIMA'S STORY IN 'FILM STAR'

Bollywood actress Mahima Choudhary, the discovery of showman Subhash Ghai for his movie 'Pardes' is now signed on for her latest movie titled 'Film star'. Here she plays the character of Hira Pandit, who is an arrogant person. Hira Pandit has been bagging film awards for the last five to six years. However, she is upset now, as she has not been nominated this time for an award. So she feels disgusted, and goes to her friend Digambar, whose role is played by Priyanshu Chatterjee. Digambar advises Hira, "You are not nominated for an award this time because your films are getting outdated. They are not based on reality. They lack novelty. You better look for truth for your stories. Try to become predictable on the screen".

Digambar's life has its own story to tell. He has not been doing anything for the last several years though he is an advocate by profession. He has not visited the court for quite some time. However, Digambar is happy to give an advice to Hira Pandit that helps her in realizing her mistake. She looks for a story based on a true incident that can bring her back to her glorious past. Meanwhile, she comes across a true story. This is based on the life of a woman named Vasundhara Das. This woman is pretty and sober too, but has been put behind the bars on the charge of murdering her husband (Aryan Vaid).

Her father- in- law, who is head of a non-political organization, and is very influential in society. He influences the authorities to award Vasundhara Das a rigorous punishment. Hira Pandit sympathises with Vasundhara and decides to make a movie by playing the character of this brave woman in her new movie. Hira thinks this character will help her regain her lost prestige in the film industry. So she goes to the jail to meet Vasundhara Das there. However, she misleads the media by telling it that she wants to help Vasundhara Das in getting her justice from the court. The nearer she goes to Vasundhara Das, the more Hira gets associated with her.

Now, she realizes that she is exploiting Vasundhara for her own selfish end by trying to make a film out of her miserable life. Thus there is a change in Hira's heart. She decides to really help Vasundhara, and knocks at the door of her advocate friend Digambar to seek his help in defending Vasundhara Das in the court. Though initially Digambar gets angry on Hira but later agrees to defend Vasundhara in getting justice. He knows that he can utilize his status of an advocate to fight the case of Vasundhara. This helps Vasundhara a lot. Finally, she gets justice and returns to herself. This movie is produced under the banner of Sahara Manoranjan. Its director is Tanuja Chandra and Jatin-Lalit has provided the music.

It抯 second honeymoon for Sanjay, Karisma

After settling dispute over the issue of passport for their daughter, industrialist Sanjay Kapur and actress Karisma Kapoor on Wednesday presented a picture of a happily married couple when they arrived in idyllic locales of Goa on the eve of their second wedding anniversary.

The couple, together with their six-month-old daughter Samaira, landed in Panaji on Wednesday afternoon on a Jet Airways flight and headed for a five-star beach resort in Southern Goa, some 35 kms from the airport.

Sanjay and Karisma looked happy and relaxed and were smiling as they made their way out of the airport.

Seen as an attempt at patch-up after months of separation that saw a bitter court duel, the couple will celebrate their second wedding anniversary in Goa on Thursday.

Karisma had come to Mumbai during her pregnancy and delivered Samaira. She stayed there as reports emerged of marital discord between her and Delhi-based husband.

On Tuesday, a limited agreement was reached between them out of court with the duo patching up on the issue of passport for their daughter and telling the Delhi High Court that they were making progress on other matrimonial issues.

After their statement, the Court disposed of Sanjay抯 petition seeking to restrain Karisma from taking their daughter Samaira abroad after she agreed to let Sanjay sign the child抯 passport application.

Shah Rukh Khan will star in yet another Yash Raj Films

Now it's Manisha & Prosenjit

First there was Aishwarya Rai, then he will be shooting soon with Mahima Chaudhary and now we have Nepalese beauty Manisha Koirala all set to be lady love to Tollywood's numero uno Prosenjit.

The actor will be starring opposite Manisha Koirala in Rituparno Ghosh's forthcoming venture Khela. "Rituparno has not made a film like this before. It revolves around the kidnap of a child and the incidents that follow it. Manisha plays my wife," said Prosenjit.

The actor is back after holding discussions with the Bollywood star. "Shooting starts on November 10," said the actor. In Kolkata? "No most of it will be shot in North Bengal and there are plans to shoot some parts in Nepal too," said the actor.

Rituparno's films so far have been shot in the indoors, exception being Titli, so that way Khela will be his second film where he will be exploring the outdoors. Rituparno's last two unrelased films Antarmahal and Doshar, both have been shot indoors right here in Kolkata.

While Doshar, that has Prosenjit and Konkona in the lead, is off to a few festivals the buzz is that Antarmahal will be released in a couple of months time. Meanwhile Rituparno is working on two scripts it seems.

While he is on the lookout for actors for his film Draupadi, he's roped in Manisha to do a Bengali film. Prosenjit's company will be executing the production work of the film.

Fardeen Khan will be breaking many female hearts soon, as he is set to tie the knot with long time 杇irlfriend Natasha Madhwani, daughter of yesteryears actress Mumtaz and businessman Mayur Madhwani. The entire Khan family is busy with preparations for the wedding. The bride to be抯 trousseau will be given a personal touch as Fardeen抯 mother Sundari will be designing it herself. Natasha loves to wear classy clothes and those which suit her. Her favorite colors include beige, peach, black and canary tones.

For the D-Day, the outfit will be an ethnic ensemble in traditional shades of red and gold, whereas the outfit for the reception will be an Indo Western outfit. TABU IS YET TO GIVE HER BEST

Tabu's movie 'Meenaxi-Tale of Three Cities' has been withdrawn from theatres following objections by a section that Quranic verses have been misused in the film. But those who watched the movie feel that the actress has left people spell bound with her portrayal of three girls from Hyderabad, Jaisalmer and Prague. According to them, Tabu spans all kinds of cinema-mainstream and parallel or art. In fact, her performances in the latter kind of films have earned her accolades. She is able to portray emotions excellently.

She is able to impart a sense of realism to her roles in movies. Right now, she is taking a break, but to occupy herself in her new love for children. She is happy in their company and says, " I play with them. They even bully me but I enjoy it". It appears that the talented actress is looking beyond her cinema career. Though it is not the marriage she is looking forward to, yet there is something, which charms her more than anything. What else she has in store with her for her fans except that to do her best in movies, which is yet to come from her. Her fans, including Fida Hussain, are eagerly waiting for that from this very talented Bollywood girl.

Bipasha in a pop music video!

If you are an avid TV viewer, you will soon see teasers of a new music video featuring none other than the sultry Bipasha Basu. When we spoke to Bipasha Basu's secretary earlier, he denied this information. Which is why we were really surprised when we actually saw the video! The video has a hip hop feel to it. Bipasha makes an entry with her face covered by a deck. It is later that her face is revealed. The artist who has sung this song is RG, whose full name is Rajiv Goswami. The song is titled "Mujhe Mere Pyaar Se Matlab" whereas the album is called "RG Mujhe Pyaar Se Matlab." The video looks quite slick and looks like it could give international videos some competition! The promos will go on air from this Sunday.

Incidentally, in the very beginning of her career, Bipasha Basu was featured in another video, 'Tu', by Sonu Nigam.

Karisma in 'Luck By Chance'

Zaved Akhtar's daughter Zoya Akhtar has now offered her movie titled 'Nargis' to Karisma Kapoor. Earlier, this movie was offered to Madhuri Dixit. It is learnt that the fee became the controversial issue between the actress and the producer. After acceptance of the offer by Karisma, Zoya has rechristened the movie as ' Luck By Chance'. Zoya should not forget that Karisma is yet to sign the contract. This is vital because Madhuri had also accepted the offer but later opted out of the movie. Let us keep our fingers crossed until Karisma signs the 'Luck By Chance' contract.
