Every so often, a massive quake occurs as a jolting reminder that our planet's crust is active and ever-shifting. No doubt, the global climate change is the biggest present and future issue we will have to face head on.
And if we believe in the scientific studies, then it says that experts have dotted some countries around the globe, which could face disaster and disappear off the face of the earth.
Isn't this news like a bombshell?
Well, here is the list of the countries that are supposed to disappear if any massive earthquake occurs.
#10 Indonesia
Indonesia sits in a precarious position when it comes to vulnerability to earthquakes and as well as other natural disasters. And, all the previous quakes are the witness of this fact.
In 2004 quake, Indonesia was the worst affected area, with most death toll estimates at around 170,000 listing it as a third-largest earthquake ever recorded on a seismograph
#9 Turkey
Experts discovered that Turkey falls in the seismic zone between African, Eurasian and Arabian plates by which the earthquake can hit the country at any point of time.
Turkey has already faced one of the most destructive earthquakes earlier, where around 17,000 people were killed, 50,000 were injured and over 5,00,000 were rendered desolate.
#8 Mexico
Mexico is one of the most seismically volatile regions on the earth, situated at the top of three large tectonic plates, namely, North American, Pacific and Cocos plate. In the recent 2014 Guerrero earthquake, the nation was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 Richter scale leading to many fatalities in the city.
#7 El Salvador
El Salvador is the another earthquake prone country that has suffered immense damage due to quakes. By causing several catastrophes and loss to the property, the earthquake has undoubtedly demonstrated trends of increasing seismic risk.

#6 Pakistan
By geologically situating at the top of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates. Pakistan also comes under the list of earthquake-prone countries. Due to movement on thrust faults in the Himalayan region, this region has the highest rates of seismicity which could vanish the country by a single massive hit.
#5 Philippines
The Philippines sprawls on the boundary of the Pacific plate, which is commonly a seismic hot zone that girdles the state. The threat sat by quakes to Manila is threefold. The most startling fact in this is that it is trim with the Pacific Ring of fire, making it receptive not only to tremors but also to volcanic eruptions.
#4 Ecuador
Ecuador lies between the seismic zone, between the South American and Nazca plate, making it an extremely dangerous site for high-magnitude quakes and tremors. The most recent earthquake occurred on August 2014, which rattled the Quito with a magnitude of 5.1 on Richter scale.
#3 India
Due to the shifting of the tectonic plate at the rate of 47 mm every year, India has experienced a series of deadly earthquakes. India has witnessed destructive quakes of the third deadliest earthquake in the history of the world in Gujarat.
2 Nepal
1 Japan
On last Thursday, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook northeast Japan. It's physical geography, and location along the Pacific Ring of Fire makes the nation very vulnerable to tsunami and earthquakes.
*FYI* The ring of fire is a belt of tectonic plates around the Pacific Ocean. It skirts along the shores of Japan, New Zealand, and North and South America. And, all along it is snapping and striking, creating small or large earthquakes.
