On March 12, NTV will broadcast a drama special titled "Serendip no Kiseki" in its 10:00pm time slot. The special is composed of three stories, based on writer Kundo Koyama's short story "Film." As the title suggests, the theme of the drama is serendipity.

The three stories follow an advertising OL (Yoshino Kimura), a restaurant producer (Ikki Sawamura), and a patissier (Atsushi Ito). Although the stories are separate, they will be connected by an "angel" from above (Ryoko Hirosue), serving as the drama's navigator.

Actor Ken Kaneko, who recently retired as a competitive fighter, will make his acting return as a taxi driver in Ikki Sawamura's story.

The theme song for the special will be Motohiro Hata's "Bokura wo Tsunagu Mono," which goes on sale on March 7.

Kaijoken Musashi ~Gakkou e Ikou~

In March, Fuji TV will broadcast two drama specials (SP) about relationships between humans and animals. Each of the two-hour specials is based on a true story.

The first will air on March 16 at 9:00pm, in the Kinyo Prestige time slot. Titled "Kaijoken Musashi ~Gakkou e Ikou~," the drama tells the story of a young girl named Kumiko (Riko Narumi) who is diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, which eventually makes her unable to even walk. She falls into despair, but with the help of a service dog named Musashi, she is able to regain her courage and happiness.

Taro and Jiro ~Hansei Zaru to Boku no Yume~

The second special will air on March 17 at 9:00pm, in the Doyo Premium time slot. It is titled "Taro and Jiro ~Hansei Zaru to Boku no Yume~" and is based on the real Taro and Jiro. Taro Murasaki (played by Kenji Sakaguchi) is an entertainer who performs with a monkey named Jiro. The drama will focus on their friendship and the hardships they have faced, including the death of the original Jiro. The cast will include Tetsuya Takeda, Tsurube Shofukutei, Junichi Komoto, and Yuika Motokariya.

Ai no Rukeichi

NTV will broadcast a 2-part drama special based on Junichi Watanabe's novel, "Ai no Rukeichi," which was adapted as a movie that opened last month. The two parts will air on March 20 and 21, at 9:00pm. Goro Ki#ani and Saki Takaoka will co-star.

Kanojo to no Tadashii Asobikata

Actor Hiro Mizushima, best known as Souji Tendou in the recently completed "Kamen Rider Kabuto" television series, will take on an entirely different role in an upcoming TV Asahi drama special. The drama is titled "Kanojo to no Tadashii Asobikata." The original work was the winner of a contest held by TV Asahi last year for new scenario writers.

Mizushima plays the role of a high school student. When he and his selfish friend Yuna (Tomoka Kurokawa) were in grade school, they created a secret game between themselves in which they would play the roles of a princess and her servant. They continued the game since then, promising to keep playing until someone else found about it. Through this connection, a love story emerges.

TV Asahi will broadcast the drama on March 23 at 11:15pm. Nanamusica's "Ame Nochi Hare" has been chosen as the ending theme.

Fuji TV has announced the return of the 2005 drama series "1 Litre of Tears" in the form of a drama special, which will air on April 5 at 9:00pm.

The original series was based on the true story of Aya Kito, who was diagnosed with spinocerebellar degeneration at the age of 15 and died at the age of 25. When the drama aired in 2005, the first episode received ratings of only 13.5%, but the ratings grew to 20.5% by the final episode.

The special will take place half a year after the death of Aya (played by Erika Sawajiri). The story will focus on Aya's sister Ako (Riko Narumi), who is aiming to become a nurse, and Aya's classmate Haruto (Ryo Nishikido from pop groups Kanjani8 and NEWS), who has become a doctor. The special will include new scenes during Aya's lifetime, so Sawajiri will also appear in the drama.
