Designer Lee Young-hee promotes Korean color
At the Venice Film Festival--one of the world's three largest film festivals--a new movie called "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" produced by director Park Chan-wook, who had already earned worldwide recognition for his thriller "Old Boy," was invited as an entry in the official long movie category. An official movie screening event of the Venice Film Festival was held concurrently as a red carpet event at Sala Grende Cinema. During the event, actress Lee Young-ae drew the local media spotlight when she appeared wearing a traditional Korean costume, called "hanbok," with knotted hair, red jacket, and dark brown skirt.
The question over who designed Lee Young-ae's hanbok, which looked graceful and stately yet was as fashionable as dresses designed by top-rated western designers, was a prime topic of conversation. Diverse rumors floating around said that her clothing had hurriedly been created in Milan, and that it was rushed to the event by air from Korea. Upon hearing these rumors, one might imagine how proud the person who designed and tailored Lee's hanbok felt. Lee Young-ae's hanbok spawned massive attention and became a hot topic of discussion among the people of the world thanks to its elegant and dignified look. The person who created the hanbok is Lee Young-hee, a 69 year-old hanbok designer.

Charming star
Star of Jewel in the Palace, Korean actress Lee Young-ae is one of Asia's most popular sweethearts in recent times. MICHAEL CHEANG flew to Singapore to bask in Lee抯 radiance.

for Korean electronics giant LG.
THE Jewel was leaving the building. As the emcee announced: "I'm sorry, but that's all the time we have for questions today."
This was followed by an audible collective groan in the room.
It seems as though a 15-minute press conference was not enough for the hoard of media from seven countries that had converged in Singapore for the chance to meet the Jewel of the Palace |

A Boeing 767 aircraft with images of Janggeum, the heroine of the hit drama 'Daejanggeum (A Jewel in the Palace),' sits in a hangar on Wednesday morning. Asiana Airlines will fly aircraft with the image to Taiwan, Japan, China and other East Asian destinations where the drama is hugely popular starting from flight OZ711 to Taiwan on Wednesday.

Jewel in the sky: Asiana Airlines managers and flight attendants unveil the carrier's Boeing 767 jet wrapped with pictures of actress Lee Young-ae, star of the popular TV drama "Jewel in the Palace (Taejanggum)," at Incheon International Airport, Wednesday. The jet, named after the drama, will fly for one year to Taiwan, Japan, China and Southeast Asian countries where the soap opera featuring traditional Korean cuisine has gained popularity amid a Korean pop culture boom. /Yonhap
