Priyanka Chopra is happy after getting Filmfare award for the Best Newcomer Actress. She got this award after her good performance in 'Andaaz' and the 'The Hero'. She was not excepting this award though as she is known more for her body exposure than her performance.

Diya Mirza in 'Zaroorat'

Diya Mirza has got an opportunity of her life to get a film 'Zaroorat'. Interestingly, she got this assignment from music company SaaReGama H.M.V. Though Diya Mirza began her career from Vasu Bhagnani's movie 'Rehna Hai Tera Dil Mein', she did not get success even in her four films. Now she is banking on 'Zaroorat', which is directed by Anurag Basu of the 'Saaya' and 'Murder' fame. Mahesh Bhatt writes the story, and the hero is Imran Hazmi. This is to recall that Diya Mirza had a hit film 'Dum' but its credit went to Vivek Oberoi. Hopefully, Diya will meet her success in 'Zaroorat'.

Kim's double romance

Love is blind, it is said. It is deaf too, it is learnt. Kim Sharma has been romancing with more than one person, according to Bollywood reports. She is romancing with cricket star Yuvraj Singh. The reports hint that she is thick with Zulfi Sayed though she calls him as her ' best friend only'. Kim and Zulfi have been acting together in a movie 'Taj Mahal'.

Tara Sharma and Akshay Khanna

Tara Sharma is in the news for her performance in her promos of her latest movie 'Masti'. She claims that 'Masti' will take her to glory whereas her 'Saaya' failed to reach. Tara Sharma is doing serious theatre too. She is not far behind in her romance with Akshay Khanna. Both of them are denying though, but are reported to be involved with each other quite thickly.

Isha is excited

Isha Koppikar's performance in 'Krishna Cottage' has brought her back in limelight as her movie 'Kaante' of Ram Gopal Verma had done in the past. Now, Ekta Kapoor has offered her a movie after watching her work. Isha herself is very proud of her acting in 'Krishna Cottage' and considers it a turning point in her filmi career. Besides, she thinks that she will khallas (Excel) all other stars. Significantly, Ram Gopal Verma is taking her again in his forthcoming movie 'Vastu Shastra'. This movie has been rechristened from 'Shanti Kuteer'. It is wondered if Isha has become a kind of Vastu for Ram Gopal Verma. This is to recall that many filmmakers are crazy about Vastu these days.

Aishwarya changes her mind?

The world's most beautiful girl Aishwarya Rai seems to have changed her mind. This is based on Bollywood reports that Aishwarya Rai has had second thought about her old boyfriend Salman Khan. According to reports reaching here, Salman recently went to Kolkata and visited the sets of Rituporno Ghosh's movie 'Rain Coat'. He tried to meet Aish there, but failed in his first attempt. However, later Aishwarya met him in her make-up room. Both of them talked to each other for an hour. Salman Khan was seen very happy and smiling while coming out of Aish's make-up room. It is learnt that both will soon appear together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming movie. If it happens it may create a hungama in the movie industry.

gGracy needs no make-up

Gracy Singh doesn't bother about her make-up. She feels that the make-up and wearing of scanty clothes don't help a star, and they are no substitute for her performance. Recently, on the sets of 'Yahee Zindagi' she was found taking rest in her make-up room. When her assistant director called her for acting, she came out without any make-up. This surprised the director to find her without any make-up. When asked Gracy said that she was all right without it. However, the director persuaded her to go back to the make-up room. He was surprised as to how an actress could act without make-up in this age of face surgery by many stars.

Sush is blunt and frank

A recent incident has added a proud name to the Bollywood list. This is of none other than a former world beauty-turned- actress Sushmita Sen. An English speaking socialite met Sushmita in a Mumbai hotel and admired her beauty. Sush listened to him with patience. But the gentleman crossed limit later by ridiculing Bollywood for its movies. This annoyed her so much that she asked him to shut up. In fact, she made it clear to him that she is not interested in listening to her nonsense.

SAMEERA REDDY ROMANCE ANNOYS SANJAY DUTT

Sameera Reddy is an actress of Bollywood whose films have flopped but she is not out. This is due to her influence over her directors and producers. Her recent performance in Ram Gopal Verma's movie 'Darna Mana Hai ' has been applauded though this did not hit the box office. A recent incident of her career is significant. During the shooting of 'Musaafir' in Goa she created a hangama. According to a report from there, Sameera Reddy was found romancing with the movie director Sanjay Gupta. This annoyed Sanjay Dutt beyond words. Sanjay Dutt was scheduled to go for another shoot after completing his work in ''Musaafir'. However, he was delayed because Sameera and Sanjay Gupta were busy in romance.

Later, Sanjay Dutt cooled down though following Sanjay Gupta's intervention. However, Sameera Reddy was least bothered. This is to recall that Sameera has replaced Priyanka Chopra in this movie. It is said that in Sanjay Gupta's earlier movie ' Plan' a controversy arose over the payment of fee to her. Priyanka Chopra wanted a higher price, which was not acceptable to Sanjay Gupta. So Sanjay Gupta didn't repeat Priyanka Chopra in 'Musaafir' and signed on Sameera for 'Musaafir'. It is wondered if Sanjay Baba would not make an issue of the romance of the director and his actress doing a romance during the shoot and delay Sanju Baba in his next schedule of the day.

An ajnabee called Amitabh

Amitabh Bachchan has surpassed all heroes this year.  

His films Bunty Aur Babli, Black, Sarkar and Waqt: Race Against Time have done a business of Rs 1 billion already. Quite an achievement for a man who will turn 63 on October 11.  

This December, Amitabh will be seen in Ek Ajnabee, co-starring Arjun Rampal, Perizaad Zorbian, Kelly Dorjee and Vikram Chatwal.

The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia, who had earlier directed Abhishek Bachchan in Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost.

Ek Ajnabee film is about a man (Amitabh) who loses interest in life, until he meets an eight-year-old girl. Bachchan's character has been hired by the girl's father to protect her from being kidnapped.  

The film was completed in 40 days, in a start-to-finish schedule in Bangkok, Thailand.

We recently visited the sets of Deepak Tijori抯 Tom, Dick and Harry. And what we saw certainly caught our attention. It is already known that the movie promises to keep the audience in splits. The movie is a spoof and characters like Mogambo, Gabbar Singh and Shakaal will be seen in it. But we also saw the actors of the movie dressed up as some other characters! For instance Dino Morea was dressed up as a priest, who we thought looked like Anthony from Amar Akbar Anthony and Jimmy Shergill was dressed up as none other than Mangal Pandey. Also our wild guess is that Anuj Sawhney was dressed up like Salman Khan from Tere Naam.

Whatever it is, the characters certainly looked interesting. Hope the movie turns out to be just as interesting as its characters sound!

Shilpa does her bit for AIDS Awareness

Shilpa Shetty recently made someone's dream come true. The actress is a part of India's biggest HIV/AIDS awareness mass media campaign. As part of this campaign, there will be a weekly show called Haath Se Haath Milaa which will identify a 'Yuva Star'. The show will make this Yuva star meet their favorite Bollywood star. The Yuva star could be a person who has AIDS or someone working with people who have AIDS.

Shilpa Shetty recently met Shanthi Norohna, 30-year-old HIV patient-turned-AIDS awareness activist from Padubelle in Udupi district. Shanti along with her favorite actress Shilpa will spread awareness about the disease. This episode will be shot in Mumbai and Udupi. There will also be an inter-collegiate dance competition judged by Shilpa, a discussion on how to prevent AIDS as well as the screening of the film Phir Milenge, starring Shilpa Shetty, Salman Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. Vivek Oberoi , along with other stars are also a part of this show. Bollywood does have a heart after all!

Aftaab smiles again in 'Muskaan'

Though Aftab Shivdasani has no godfather in the industry, yet he has made his own place in Bollywood. His movies did not succeed at the box office but his performance was widely appreciated. Ram Gopal Verma was the first director who gave him an opportunity in his 'Mast'. As said earlier it did not click but Aftab got another offer in Vikram Bhatt's 'Kasoor'. His role was negative though, yet he proved his versatility as an actor. His next movie was 'Kya Yahee Pyaar Hai'. He is very popular with his directors. So he came back in 'Muskaan'.

Bipasha and John exchange gifts

Bipasha Basu and John Abraham are good friends. Though they are frequently in the news for their affairs followed by sweet quarrels. It is heartening that of late they have been exchanging precious gifts. While Bipasha gifted to John a very costly Suzuki top of the line motorcycle, John did not remain behind and presented her an up-to-date treadmill. John is usually seen riding this motorbike on the Western Express highway. In fact, John has also enacted a few scenes riding on his motorcycle in Yash Chopra's film starring Uday Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan. It is not known if Bipasha is utilizing the treadmill but she is all praise for her boyfriend describing him as the best boyfriend in the world. This blasts the myth that Bipasha and John are no more as close as they were in the past. Yes, they are not revealing their marriage plans though!

Hrithik denies Preity ever in bad mood

'Lakshya' is the third film in which Hrithik is paired opposite Preity, earlier being 'Mission Kashmir' and 'Koi... Mil Gaya'. Hrithik is glad to say from rooftops that Preity never got in a bad mood, "no matter what I do!" Incidentally, Hrithik was to do a role in 'Dil Chahta Hai', but it did not click. Farhan Akhtar is ready with 'Lakshya', starring Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan. Hrithik said that there could be no comparison between 'Lakshya', which is set against the Kargil conflict and 'Dil Chahta Hai, a hip urban comedy. 'Lakshya' was shot in Ladakh over five months. "There were days when hot water was poured down my arms because I was in extreme pain', recalls Hrithik.

Rampal gets 'Vaada' despite huge fee

Ram Gopal Verma and Sunil Darshan have announced that Arjun Rampal is a persona non grata in their movies because Arjun had demanded a huge sum of ten million Indian rupees as his fee. Arjun is happy though. He got another director Vasu Bhagnani to agree to pay him this fee. Arjun Rampal has been signed for Bhagnani's 'Vaada' starring Jayed Khan and Amisha Patel.

Kalpana Lajmi's last directorial venture 'Kyon' may not have made a dent at the box office, but the spunky woman resurfaced with a film titled 'The Prostitute and The Postman'. And the director has confirmed that Sushmita Sen and Karan Nath will be starring in the film. Sushmita sounded quite excited about Lajmi's film. "I met Kalpanaji and heard the story. I liked it and have consented to doing it," she says. While Karan had been finalized quite some time ago, the difficulty came in getting someone to play the prostitute. " It's been quite sometime back that I was signed for this film but they couldn't get an actress and anyway I had some other projects to finish so I got busy with them but now it seems that Sushmita is opposite me. I am excited to do this film as Kalpanaji is directing it," said Karan.

The prostitute's role was first offered to Bipasha Basu. "I met Bipasha on her sets and sat with her in her trailer. She heard the story and said she'll let me know in 24 hours. When she did not revert, I started calling her, but could not get her on the line. I made nearly 100 calls before her secretary finally informed me that his madam was not interested. This is grossly unprofessional," said Lajmi.

Next, the director of films like 'Darmiyaan' and 'Daman' approached Preity Zinta. "Preity declined the offer saying that she had played a prostitute in 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke' and was not keen to repeat it, at least in the near future. What surprised me most about this girl was that she seemed flabbergasted when I told her about the budget of my film. She asked if films could be made in such a small budget. To date I don't think she is inclined to any cinema other than the Chopra-Johar feel good cinema," she said.

Eventually she zeroed in on Sushmita who, she says, agreed to do the film at a reduced price of her normal remuneration. "I saw 'Filhaal', 'Aankhen', 'Samay' and 'Paisa Vasool' and think she was truly good in all these," Lajmi explained.

Estimated to be an Rs 25 million project, it is inspired from a real story. "It is Bhupen Hazarika's concept. He had seen a relationship between a postman and a prostitute-taking place on the border of Bhutan and Assam. I wrote the script and finalized Karan for the role of the postman. I wanted the postman to look very innocent. Karan fits the role," said the director. Set during the winter, the film will be shot in and around Dehra Dun in a single schedule of about 45 days starting January 2005. Unlike what you must be thinking or imagining with the subject of the film, it hardly contains any steamy scenes or intimate moments between the prostitute and the postman. "It's a very decent and clean film also not very long it's 135- minute long," said Lajmi who is yet to select the remaining cast.

AMITABH BAGS 'RADIO VOICE' AWARD

Amitabh Bachchan has bagged another equally proud award. This time it is significant as it is "Radio Voice of The Year" award. Interestingly, Amitabh Bachchan recalls that he had failed twice in his Akashwani voice tests though in his youth before joining films. He had lost both in English and Hindi audition tests. He has not forgotten those days. He is happy that he has got a silver medal for his jingle ad for Dabur Chyavanprash. However, he could not receive this covetous award. Karan Johar received this award on his behalf since he was away shooting Gaurang Doshi's 'Deewar' at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.

Besides, the Big B will now act in the Hindi version of 'The Godfather-Sarkar'. Amitabh is excited with this assignment. He claims that he will try to be very close to the original movie. However, he wishes to do his own version of 'The Godfather-Sarkar', which is about a patriarch and his family honor. This is a prestigious though a challenging assignment for the super star of Bollywood.

Ravs shocks her fans

The Mast-Mast girl Raveena Tandon broke many hearts of her fans when she tied the knot with film distributor Anil Thadani at Udaipur in Rajasthan. But her fans hoped that they would continue to see the ravishing actress on screen. Now Raveena has shocked them by expressing her desire to quit film. She says she is quite contented with her married life. "I had signed four films before my marriage. But I don't think I would be doing any of them now. I am at a stage in my life where I am doing a rethink on my priorities," says Ravs. With the release of 'Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke' with Shah Rukh Khan recently, Raveena only has 'Kasam Se' and 'Ek Hindustani' with Suneil Shetty apart from 'Hum Do Hamara Ek' with Govinda and Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Aan' slated for release shortly. The only place her fans can watch her now is on the small screen where she is acting in the 104-episode serial Shri Bimal Mitra's 'Sahib Biwi Gulam'.
