Hardtack Teacher & Star Candy stars Gong Hyo Jin who is an aspiring and wannabe teacher. Against all odds, she obtains a degree from some low ranking university. She hopes feverishly to teach at her old school of which she is kicked out, with a view to getting close to the arts teacher whom she has a big crush on. Gong Yoo plays the role of a rebellious and frivolous 19-year-old high schooler. Actually he is a breezy charmer who is particularly sentimental and blessed with a heart of gold. In order to tame GY and ensure that he causes no more troubles, his step mother hires GHJ as a temporary teacher on a one-year contract so as to keep an eye on GY. The triangular love relationship develops - GY is smitten with GHJ. GHJ is mesmerized by the arts teacher whose love to her is equal.
Putting romance aside, there are subplots of how GHJ helps solve the problems envisaged by the students. Through the ups and downs, the bonds of affection between the students and GHJ as their teacher strengthen.
The performance of Gong Hyo Jin is accurate and right on - convincing enough to be a teacher who has the perseverance to achieve and takes serious about the students. She has a rather mundane appearance, but oozes with some charm which I find irresistible. Gong Yoo makes an indelibly adorable impression with a minimum of effort. He expresses his internal pains and passion in an effective way. His romance and courtship is all mirth and hilarity but at the same time, heart rending enough to move one emotionally - All these conjure up the proper amounts of giggles and tears. The supporting cast members playing the students are admirable.
The chemistry of GY and GHJ is immensely natural and they play off each other perfectly.

Alahai PrincessFiona... mana pulak ganti All In... ganti Sunshine of Love laa. All In tak pernah sampai ntv7 pun.  Cerita ni pun agak baru jugaklah... sesuai dengan minat semasa.
Anyway... buat apa nak sedih2... kita pun suka jugak dengan GHJ... dulu tengok dia dalam Snowman.

She will be featured in SBS? new mini-series ?he Hardtack Teacher and Sugar Candies? for Wednesdays and Thursdays as impulsive high school teacher ?a Bo-ri.? It? her first TV series after 20 months since ?et? Go To School, Sangdoo,? a KBS mini-series that aired in 2003.
She played the role of a school teacher, ?hae Eun-hwan,? in ?angdoo,? too. Counting ?emento Mori: the Second Ghostly High School Tale? and ?o Manners,? in which she was featured as a high school student, she seems to have a deep affinity with schools.
?f Chae Eun-hwan in Sangdoo was a teacher trapped in a certain set of rules, ?a Bo-ri? is a hotheaded teacher, who will run around and take over the alleyways of her town. She would go out of control at times, but she keeps her hopes and dreams alive.?
Na Bo-ri was a town legend in her high school days as the ?oss.? But she? different from any other so-called ?osses? of the neighborhood. She accidentally ?acifies? all the ?ighters? of top-level school gangs when the alleyway wall collapses on them just before they beat her witless. So she becomes the ?oss? by luck, rather than for her ?ombat skills.?
?he Hardtack Teacher and Sugar Candies? is a drama that will comically roll out a number of episodes at a high school to depict issues like teacher-student relationships and school violence. Na Bo-ri, who was kicked out of high school, decides to become a teacher because she could not forget the ?retty boy? art teacher she loved. However, the journey to becoming a teacher, fresh out of a college in a provincial town, is long and hard. But by a stroke of luck, she becomes a temporary language teacher under the condition of keeping an eye on Park Tae-in, a good-for-nothing son of a chairman at her home school, Jung-seok High School. The Gongs have come together for the show.
? wouldn? be surprised if Mr. Gong Yu and I share the same DNA. Even the family origin (Gokbu Gong) is the same, and we seem to have a similar sense of humor. I? afraid that this might stir up a scandal.?
Gong Hyo-jin will be doing her own stunts, only befitting for her role of a teacher with a reputation of being the ?egendary fighting champion.? She does not spare an ounce of strength when filming scenes where she has to scramble in midair on a rope or fight with a pole.
