Jarak 18sm pisahkan Sin Mei

JARAK 18 sentimeter memisahkan Ngew Sin Mei daripada pingat gangsa selepas lompatan terbaiknya pada jarak 13.60 meter hanya cukup untuk menduduki tempat keempat acara lompat kijang wanita di Stadium Khalifa, semalam.

Sin Mei melakukan jarak berkenaan pada lompatan keduanya dan tidak mampu untuk mengatasinya biarpun memberikan kesungguhan sepenuhnya dalam baki lapan lompatan seterusnya.

Pingat emas acara itu dimenangi atlit China, Xie Limei yang melompat sejauh 14.37m, diikuti pelompat Uzbekistan, Anastasiya Juravleva (14.26 meter). Pingat gangsa dimenangi rakan senegara Limei, Li Qian yang mencatat jarak 13.78m.

Powell terima anugerah komanwel

KINGSTON: Pemegang rekod dunia acara pecut 100 meter dari Jamaica, Asafa Powell menjadi penerima anugerah Atlit Tahunan Yayasan Sukan Komanwel daripada pengasas, Al Hamilton.


Hamilton dan pengerusi Yayasan Sukan Komanwel di University of Technology, Mike Fennell, menghadiahkan anugerah ini kepada Powell.

Subramaniam sifatkan persaraan Sharrulhaizy satu kerugian besar

BEKAS jaguh jalan kaki negara, V Subramaniam menyifatkan persaraan anak didiknya, Mohd Sharrulhaizy Abdul Rahman, satu kerugian besar buat negara.

Apatah lagi atlit yang terbukti berpotensi menyerlah di arena antarabangsa berasal daripada Lenggeng, Negeri Sembilan itu baru mencecah usia 26 tahun.

Haizy dinobatkan jaguh Asia Tenggara apabila mengungguli saingan lumba jalan kaki 20km pada temasya Sukan Sea Vietnam 2003 dan Manila dua tahun lalu.

Jika hasrat mengundur diri tetap diteruskan Haizy, sudah pasti temasya Sukan Sea di Korat, Thailand, hujung tahun ini, merencatkan peluang negara meraihkan pingat emas setelah mendominasi acara itu lebih 16 tahun.

Selain tidak melepasi masa kelayakan yang ditetapkan Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM) untuk beraksi dalam saingan Sukan Asia Doha, Disember tahun lalu, timbul pula dakwaan tindakan Haizy itu berpunca daripada sikap persatuan yang 憁enganak-tirikan

Noraseela impi beraksi di Sukan Olimpik 2008

IMPIAN untuk beraksi di Sukan Olimpik 2008 akan terus menjadi buruan utama ratu olahraga negara, Noraseela Khalid (gambar) - satu sasaran mutlak buat seorang atlit jika mahu bergelar antara yang terbaik

Biarpun sudah melayakkan diri ke Kejohanan Trek dan Balapan Dunia di Osaka, Jepun Ogos nanti hasil catatan 56.20 saat bagi memenuhi kategori B ditetapkan Persekutuan Olahraga Antarabangsa (IAAF), semangatnya terus membara untuk beraksi di sukan terbesar dunia itu.

Seorang lagi atlit negara yang akan mengiringinya ke kejohanan itu nanti adalah jaguh lompat galah, Roslinda Samsu.

Bagi Noraseela, tiada halangan mampu memusnahkan cita-cita itu walaupun umurnya akan mencecah 28 tahun September ini, usia yang dilihat secara umum menjadi penghalang untuk lebih berjaya dalam dunia olahraga yang semakin kompetitif kini.

Roslinda idam jinak musuh ketat dari China

TIGA kejohanan utama menjadi sandaran atlit lompat bergalah negara, Roslinda Samsu tahun ini selepas beraksi cemerlang tahun lalu termasuk yang terakhir memenangi pingat perak pada Sukan Asia di Doha.

Atlit berusia 24 tahun dari Kedah itu juga membawa berita gembira selepas disahkan layak ke Kejohanan Dunia di Osaka, Ogos nanti hasil catatan terbaik 4.30 meter.

Pertandingan utama yang akan disertai Roslinda ialah Kejohanan Trek dan Balapan Asia (ATF) yang akan berlangsung di Lubnan pada Julai, Kejohanan Dunia IAAF di Osaka (25 Ogos-2 September) selain Kejohanan Universiti Dunia di Korat, Thailand.

揝etakat ini saya akan memberi tumpuan terhadap tiga kejohanan utama ini sebelum menamatkan musim dengan cuba mempertahankan pingat emas di Sukan Sea Korat hujung tahun ini,

CATATAN masa di bawah 13.6 saat adalah sasaran diberi oleh jurulatih olahraga, Ithnin Mahadi kepada anak buahnya, Robani Hassan bagi memperbaiki kemajuan dalam acara 110 meter berpagar

Bagi Ithnin, Robani mampu mencapai sasaran tersebut untuk berada sekelompok dengan pelari terbaik Asia berdasarkan pencapaiannya setakat ini.

揜obani mempunyai kemampuan menjadi di antara atlit terbaik Asia kerana bagi saya dia mempunyai fizikal yang sesuai dalam acara 110m berpagar.

揔egagalan Robani di Sukan Asia yang lalu adalah kerana kurang bersedia dari segi mental, tetapi saya percaya dia akan lebih bersedia selepas ini,
