SERRA – Seorang bekas peserta ratu cantik Brazil, Mariana Bridikehilangan kedua-dua belah tangan dan kakinya selepas dijangkitisejenis bakteria berbahaya, lapor sebuah akhbar semalam.
Bridi, 22, menjalani beberapa pembedahan pada minggu ini selepasdijangkiti kuman tersebut yang merebak ke dalam saluran darah dan diakini berada dalam keadaan kritikal.
Kekasih Bridi, Thiago Simoes berkata, model itu jatuh sakit pada 30Disember lalu dan doktor memberitahu dia mengalami masalah batu karangsebelum dibenarkan keluar dari hospital.
Dua hari selepas itu, Bridi yang juga seorang model dimasukkansemula ke sebuah hospital di bandar Serra selepas keadaannya bertambahburuk.
Doktor kemudian mendapati darah tidak mengalir di kedua-dua belahtangan dan kaki wanita itu akibat satu jangkitan oleh bakteria yangdikenali sebagai pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Pakar kemudian memutuskan untuk memotong kedua-dua kaki Bridi danpada Selasa lalu kedua-dua belah tangan wanita malang itu juga terpaksadipotong.
Mata kanannya turut buta dan dia kini dalam proses untuk menyaman hospital itu.
Bridi sebelum ini memasuki peringkat akhir pertandingan Ratu CantikBrazil pada 2006 dan 2007 selain pernah mewakili Brazil dalampertandingan Ratu Cantik Antarabangsa Bikini 2007 di China. – Agensi

Brazilian model Mariana Bridi, 20, has lost both of her hands and feet due to a blood infection.
Thetwo-time Miss World finalist who had her hands and feet amputated dueto a life-threatening infection is still in dire condition, accordingto her family.
A blog created to provide updates on Mariana Bridi da Costa of Brazil says the model's stomach had to be removed during her most recent surgery because of internal bleeding.
"Continuepraying for her. The doctors are doing everything that is humanlypossible to save her, but only God can really save your (sic) life,"says the most recent post by Renato Lindgren.
Bridi underwent emergency surgery this week after a viral infection spread to her blood.
The 20-year-old fell ill on December 30, her boyfriend, Thiago Simoes, told the U.K.'s Daily Mail newspaper. She was first told she had a kidney stone and sent home from the hospital.
Two days later the Brazilian beauty was back in the hospital in the southeast Brazil town of Serra.Doctors then diagnosed her with a severe urinary tract infection, andfound she was losing circulation in her hands and feet. They were firstforced to amputate her feet; then, this past Tuesday, her hands.
Afterthose surgeries, she suffered an internal haemorrhage and had anotheremergency operation on Wednesday afternoon, the Daily Mail reported.Bridi is waiting on a transfusion of the hard-to-match blood typeO-negative.
More than 100 people have donated blood in her name, according to the blog site.
Bridiis a two-time finalist in the search for Brazil's Miss World contestantin 2006 and 2007. She also represented Brazil in the 2007 Miss Bikini International competition, taking sixth place and an award for Most Beautiful Body.
"We are all absolutely distraught and are just praying now that she can pull through," her boyfriend said. |
