Cysts are fluid-filled sacs that grow inside the breasts. These sacs form when normal milk glands in the breast get bigger. A woman can have a single cyst or many cysts at a time. Breast cysts range in size from smaller than a pea to larger than a ping pong ball.

Do cysts need to be aspirated (drained)?

When a breast lump is found your doctor may use a simple and effective technique called needle aspiration to find out what is in the lump. If the lump is a fluid-filled cyst, the needle can remove the fluid which usually makes the lump disappear. If no fluid is found, the lump is not a cyst and whatever material is aspirated is sent to the laboratory for analysis.

When a cyst is discovered by ultrasound, aspiration is not generally recommended unless the cyst looks unusual on the ultrasound image. Aspiration may also be done if the patient wants to relieve physical or emotional discomfort caused by the cyst. If the ultrasound shows that the cyst may contain material other than fluid, the doctor may recommend aspirating the cyst. Does cyst fluid need to be analyzed in the laboratory?

Normal benign cyst fluid is usually yellow, green or gray and does not need to be analyzed in a laboratory. Studies of breast cyst fluid from thousands of women show that analysis of fluid is important only when the color of the fluid suggests previous bleeding.

What will happen if a cyst is left alone?

Breast cysts often change in size. Breast cysts can look different or disappear entirely on mammograms from one year to the next. This is why we recommend diagnostic rather than screening mammograms for our patients with "cystic breasts" and changing lumps. Diagnostic mammograms allow the doctor to complete an ultrasound at the same appointment as the mammogram to make sure the changes are actually due to cysts and not solid lumps.

actually my mom kena...
sebulan lepas p hospital check....
ingatkan breast cancer rupanya breast cyst...
doc xbagi ubat apa2 langsung....

so mak makan essentials, biomega, proflavanol, coquinone...
pastu mak kata dada dia dah x rasa menarik2 macam dulu...
blood pun xkuar dah...

12 hb ni nak p check lagi...
doc nak korek katanya...
tapi dah bagitahu mak suh dia minta doc check lagi skali...
kalau cyst tu hilang xpayah korek....

coz ada kawan dulu mak dia kena cyst ovari...makan supplement ni pas dua bulan lebih
jumpa doc, cyst dia sembuh, doc pun terkejut...

so harap2 mak pun ok...
amin..

simpati atas penderitaan mak u...
i pun penah buang gaks cysts tuh...
dia tak sakit dan tak merbahaya tapi cuma kita rasa tak selesa coz benda tu bergerak2...
i mean pagi dia kat bawah nnti petang kat atas pulak...
my cousin lg la..dekat 6 bjii cysts yang dia ada...
dia cuma buang 2 sebab tak sanggup tanggung sakit pas operation...
u rajin2kan la search web berkaitan penyakit ni...
semoga mak u cepat sembuh k...

cyst ni ketulan berisi cecair...
cyst ni mungkin terasa sakit atau bila dipegang/disentuh baru rasa sakit..
ia juga mungkin akan hilang terus seketika dan timbul semula kemudiannya..
mcm i punya bila disentuh baru rasa sakit..kalau tak kita rasa normal jeks..
cume time period rasa agak sengal di kawasan sekeliling...

well the thing is

cyst tu basically refers to FLUID containing lump. ( benjolan ? ketulan ? swellings?)

jadi kan memana benjolan berair tu kita panggil cycst, jadi kalau nak tahu sama ada serious ker tak tulah yg doktor nak buat BIOPSY ( ambil isi and aspirated - sedut sikit cairan tu ) untuk analisis tissue ( isi - cells) dan sebagainya.

so saya suka sarankan buat breast examination sel examine nipenting ni ...nurse boleh ajaq actually.

nak tanya sikit : does your mom on the pill? atau on any HRT?

my mom x buat HRT just amek supplement usana...
doc pun xbagi apa2 ubat...
so far my mom dah xrasa sakit dan x bleeding macam dulu.

ada apa2 suggestion x?

no ... saya  bukan doktor so suggestion saya tak boleh bagi rasanya.

Tapi saya lega sikit lah yg your mommy sebelum ni is nottaking any medication like HRTs and so on ..takut jugak ada risk posed by the intake of this medication.

Jadi,  your mother dah buat ker that procedure? apa apa pun lebih baik buat  histology ( cells ) analysis, just u know to be on the safe side of things.

How is your mom , now?

dia kuat lagi walaupun umoor dar 63...
aritu dah scan just ada cust seketul kecil je....
12hb ni p lagi....tapi doc nak korek keluarkan....
