YOU HAVE to feel a mite sorry for those poor acts billed to perform at Oxegen at the same time as Beyonce was onstage. When it comes to pulling an audience, she was this year’s Oxegen queenpin.
Everyone, it seems, is here to see her as the biggest crowd of the weekend gather at the main stage.
She and her all-female band don’t put a foot wrong, despite the considerable handicap of sporting vertiginous heels. Her set is primed with hits, full of fantastic, familiar tunes capable of turning a big field in Co Kildare into a bouncy disco.
Indeed, it’s like the tracklisting for a prospective Greatest Hits album: Crazy In Love, Single Ladies, Halo, Irreplaceable, Baby Boy and a string of tunes from the Destiny’s Child back-catalogue.
Beyonce herself is quickly becoming an old pro at this game of playing gigs in a big field. The only time a look of confusion comes over her face is when the field start chanting “Ole Ole Ole” at her.

Beauty, astonishing pipes, all the talent in the world—pretty much a no-brainer for destiny. "I'm so blessed to wake up every morning and do what I love," she said. "I don't take it for granted." Fans shouldn't either.
Beyoncé has reportedly signed up to appear in a one-off show on ITV1.
The hour-long Beyoncé Music Special will be hosted by X Factor USA presenter Steve Jones and see the former Destiny's Child star perform her biggest hits, as well as new material.
"Beyoncé is one of the hottest ­international stars around right now and ITV are thrilled to get her," a source told The People.
"To land her for an ­exclusive show is a massive coup. They are confident it will be a huge ratings success."
The singer recently headlined Glastonbury Festival and was voted the best act by Digital Spy readers. She is expected to top the US and UK album charts this week.
The music special is due to air in December after the X Factor semi-final.

Beyoncé Treats UK Fans To Pizza
Devoted fans queued outside of a London studio earlier today awaiting the start of a taping session for an upcoming Beyoncé special (more on that later). Well aware that the fans were starved to see her, Beyoncé figured they might be hungry for more than just her performance, so she ordered them 200 pizzas and bottles of water while they waited for the doors to open.
