A MANIAC who has blown up 14 parking-ticket machines using fireworks was being hunted by cops last night.
They fear it may be an attacker who waged a campaign from 2004 to 2006 when £300,000 damage was caused to 185 meters.
The latest wave of explosions in Lewes, East Sussex, started on September 16 and the most recent attack on one of the £3,000 ticket dispensers was last Monday.
The town is famous for its firework celebrations and the attacks have coincided with the period around November 5.
Cops suspect it may be a campaign by a disgruntled motorist. Lewes councillor Carl Maynard said: "Whoever committed this mindless crime should know they risk jail.
"As well as the potential to seriously injure a passer-by, this vandalism costs the people of Lewes, who will end up footing the bill."
Police Chief Inspector Natalie Moloney said: "I can't believe anyone would be so reckless as to carry out such potentially dangerous acts.
"I'm amazed someone hasn't been injured. This is a serious spree of costly vandalism and we are determined to find out who is responsible.
"Someone knows who is doing this and it is important that they help us put a stop to it now before someone gets seriously injured."
