KUALA LUMPUR: Local animation artists are set to make the country proud again with their stunning visuals in Ang Lee's upcoming Life of Pi.
Much of the computer-generated imagery (CGI) effects in Life of Pi, scheduled to be released in Malaysia on Nov 29, are done by local film production studio Rhythm and Hues Malaysia.
The film, based on Yann Martel's award-winning book of the same name, has been highly anticipated and is expected to be among the highlights at next year's Oscar awards.
Studio senior manager Hasnul Hadi Samsudin said about 80 local talents were involved in the making of the CGI effects in the film.
“Most of the background animation done in preparation for the making of the film, as well as post-production work, was done right here in Kuala Lumpur.
“This film is proof that Malaysian talent, particularly in this industry, has developed, evolved and is considered world class,” he said, adding that CGI effects made up a large portion of the movie.
