Yoon Jin-yi joins melodrama It’s Okay, It’s Love
Yoon Jin-yi (Mandate of Heaven, A Gentleman’s Dignity) is the latest cast addition to Noh Hee-kyung’s new melo It’s Okay, It’s Love, due out this summer on SBS. So far I like how this cast is shaping up, despite being iffy on the premise. Yoon Jin-yi is confirmed for the role of Jo In-sung’s fangirl girlfriend, which makes her a rival for Gong Hyo-jin.
It cracks me up that the descriptions for this show call it a “romantic mental clinic drama,” which just sounds so wrong. Gong Hyo-jin stars as a psychiatrist and Jo In-sung plays a mystery novelist who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder. The show is about two people healing each other’s deep-seated wounds and falling in love in the process. I suppose you could call most dramas that in general, though here they actually mean treating psychological disorders.
Yoon Jin-yi plays a magazine journalist who goes after an interview with Jo In-sung because she’s a fan of his work. The interview leads to a relationship and she ends up his girlfriend. She plays a very important role in the story’s setup, though we’re not told any specifics about the how and why.
The rest of the cast includes Lee Kwang-soo (Nice Guy) who plays a patient with Tourette syndrome, and Sung Dong-il (Answer Me 1994) who is Gong Hyo-jin’s sunbae psychiatrist and first love. Idol D.O plays another of Jo In-sung’s fans, a high-schooler who aspires to be like him one day.
It’s Okay, It’s Love follows You’re All Surrounded in July.
