Govt admits giving funds to Perkasa
KUALA LUMPUR: The government, which has previously denied funding Perkasa, has indeed given an allocation to the Malay-rights group to organise a seminar. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim told Sim Tze Tzin (PKR-Bayan Baru) in a written parliamentary reply that a small allocation was given to Perkasa to hold a seminar entitled “Economic Transformation between race and nation is the core for unity,” for 5,000 participants. Sim said the reply proved Perkasa was just another wing of Umno and that MCA was working hand-in-hand with the extremist group. “I am surprised because this is the first time the Barisan Nasional government has confirmed that it has provided an allocation for Perkasa,” Sim told reporters at Parliament lobby today.
