GEORGE TOWN: THE Penang police are stepping up efforts to make George Town a safer place for tourists.
One pro-active action was by increasing patrols in six areas in the city which are popular with tourists. They are Lebuh Chulia, Komtar, Padang Kota Lama, Penang Hill, Persiaran Gurney, and Batu Ferringhi.
  State police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said 30 policemen make their rounds till midnight daily in the tourist sites to keep the bad hats off the streets.
  He said uniformed tourist police will be making their rounds in patrol cars, motorcycles and on bicycles.
“There will be also be cops on foot and in plainclothes. We are stopping at nothing to make George Town safe for all, especially our tourists,” he said at the launch of the new Penang tourist police unit.
  Headed by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, the unit is made up of policemen fluent in English to  communicate better with foreign visitors.
Rahim said the unit will be  supervised by his deputy Datuk A. Thaiveegan, who will  spare no efforts in making the areas safe from petty crimes, especially snatch thefts.
  He said incidents of robberies were on the rise in many parts of the island, especially in George Town.
“We are serious about tackling crimes. We want to keep our streets free of criminals and filled with  tourists instead,” he said.
  He said, besides setting up and sprucing their police beat bases in the city, the Penang police is also helping to man booths run by the Penang Island Municipal Council to offer services on travel guide and tourist information, among others.
Rahim also called on locals to help assist tourists in their time of need.
“We are well-known for our hospitality. Let’s keep this up and give them a hand when they are in need help,” he said.

Betul! Topi tu ganti dengan helmet.

Ni tak buat indept research ni. Main launching macam tu saja.

Tapi masih boleh diperbaiki lagi sana-sini-situ-sinun

buatnya jatuh atau putus rantai basikal masa kejor pencuri...kesian abang polis. Patut letak polis2 boroi bawak basik ni. aku rasa tu gambar hiasan je tu. kalau dah praktik nanti, mungkin pakai helmet fullface tu, elbow dan knee pad sekali. ekstra rantai basikal.
