Islamic scholars give thumbs up to Cadbury

SHAH ALAM: Three Islamic scholars who toured the Cadbury plant here have given a thumbs up to the operational side and its standard operating procedures in producing chocolates that complied with Islamic standards.

International Islamic University Malaysia Economics Assistant Professor Dr Zaharuddin Abd Rahman said there was nothing to complain about the way Cadbury produced chocolates.

"They are very strict about anyone entering the plant and our check also found that the workers, mostly Muslims, to be practicing cleanliness inside and outside the factory.

"I can confidently say that the chocolates produced by Cadbury are safe to be consumed by all Muslims," he told reporters Wednesday.

The other two scholars were former Johor Mufti Datuk Nooh Gadot and Mohd Shukri Ali, who is a religious officer to the Terengganu's palace.

The press conference was held to inform that products of Cadbury were safe to be consume by Muslims.

According to Mondelez Malaysia Head of Corporate Affairs Raja Zalina Raja Safran, the public's perception towards Cadbury chocolates was still ‘not there yet’.

"The people are still having doubts about our chocolates but I think the people know Cadbury is number one when it comes to making chocolates and these scholars have proved that our products complied with the Islamic standards," she said, adding that the check conducted by the scholars was similar to the regular checks by the Selangor State Islamic Department (Jais).

In May, Cadbury Malaysia recalled two batches of its products after they were said to have contained porcine DNA or pork related ingredients.

However, checks by Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) subsequently found the chocolates to be free of porcine DNA after carrying out lab testing on the two affected batches.

nak makan, makan jer la.  cadbury bukan yahudi punya. 100% org new zealand punya.

Kalau Muslim yang tersedut asap rokok tu camna hukumnya ya? Apakah asap rokok itu hukumnya haram bila disedut oleh Muslim di sekitar yang tidak merokok atau rokok itu haram hanya pada si perokok saja?

(Teringat forumner pernah taip jika pau babi dan pau tak babi disteam bersama, maka pau tak babi itu boleh jadi haram kerana telah dicemari wap pau babi. Tidak - forumner itu lansung tiada sentuh tentang cara penyediaan seperti menggunakan alatan yang sama sebegitu. Yang buat haram asap katanya. Jadi mahu tahu juga tang rokok ini bagaimana).

slalu kalau stress aku nk mkn coklat..memg beli cadbury..so far aku tak stress so aku tak makanla..

Cadbury adalah coklat pprt paling sedap..nak beli tuk bukak puasa sambil makan dengan bernafsu depan ummah meleis di restoran.mesti syok nih.

well...first thing first. Cadbury sebelum ni menarik kembali bathces yang ada kandungan porcine. So, mmg depa admit ada porcine dalam produk derang?

kalau kat atas muka bumi ni memang ada satu jenama jer coklat cadbury ..bolehlah beli kalau nak makan. tapikan banyak lg pilihan ... so buat pilihan bijak gitu..hati pon tak gelap ..
