The victims of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash in Ukraine were remembered in Hilversum on Sunday afternoon. The memorial service drew thousands of people at the Sint-Vitus Church, exactly one month since the crash, NU.nl reports.

The service started at 3 p.m. At the start, 15 candles were lit for the victims that come from Hilversum, and one last candle was lit for the other victims.

Photographs of the people lost on the fated flight were standing inside the church, where there were 1500 people present. Flowers were lain at the pictures. Outside the church, masses of people watched the ceremony on screens.

Prior to the service, thousands of people gathered for a silent march through Hilversum. The people released 15 white doves at around 2 p.m. for the 15 local residents killed. After this, another 283 whit doves were released to commemorate the other victims.

The silent marchers, dressed in white, also released white balloons in a park, and then started the walk to the Sint-Vitus church. Flags on the route were hung at half mast.

Mayor Pieter Broertjes of Hilversum spoke some words about the sadness that the town communally feels for their lost neighbors, and that this sadness will remain. “But solidarity offers support. Also after today, also tomorrow and the day after. We share this sadness with each other for the rest of our lives.”

Speaking with surviving relatives of the victims left “an indelible impression” on the Mayor. “We could hopefully offer some comfort and a listening ear, but could not take away the immeasurable sadness and the hopelessness. Morning doesn’t pass, it becomes a part of your life. Love does not go away with death, it remains.”

MH17 victims Albert and Maree Rizk formally identified

Another two Victorians killed  when Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine have been formally identified and are coming home.

The children of well-known Sunbury couple Albert and Maree Rizk released a short statement on Sunday evening confirming their parents have been identified out of the victims recovered from the crash site.

‘‘We wish to thank all those who have helped identify our parents, Maree and Albert, whom we miss so dearly,’’ the statement reads.

‘‘Our thoughts are also with all the families affected by this tragedy. We look forward now to the return of our parents and hope that all the families will soon have their loved ones returned to them.”

Last week, Victorian couple Mary and Gerry Menke, of Mallacoota, became the first Australians killed in the  MH17 tragedy to be formally identified out of the flight's 298 victims.

The Australian government is not disclosing the identities of any passengers who are formally identified unless their families wish to release the information.

Families are being offered flights to the Netherlands in order to accompany their loved ones back to Australia.

yup... aku pun hope sgt2 semua pegawai2 yg bertugas kenal pasti mangsa..
check dna.. mandikan..k ...

aku yakin ketua imam yg ditemuramah tu mmg jaga aib semua jenazah. dia kata semua mayat sempurna kan? tak sikit pun dia nak kata mayat begitu begini. padahal .. kita sendiri pun tau2 je la. seharusnya begitu la.

kalau tak silap, jumaat baru dia release nama2 tu sbb ada kemungkinan ada penambahan bilangannya
dari hasil bacaan aku, crew yg dibawak balik jumaat ni antaranya ahmad firdaus & mastura


13 dari 15 crew dah dikenalpasti cuma tarikh dibawak balik tu jer tak tahu bila..

Mesti adik angkat yang masih menunggu ayahnya dalam MH370 akan menangis Jumaat ini
MH17 sekurang-kurangnya kembali juga walau tiada nyawa.

I hope they manage to settle all the documentations and bawa balik semua crew on the same day

They fly together, they need to come home together juga

mungkin jgk la kan. kat volume ke brapa ek ada senarai nama2 penumpang? dan asal usul ke. aku banyak skip thread mh17. sbb nanti asyik nak nangis je. hrp2 jumaat ni bos aku tak de. boleh aku tengok online upacara ketibaan jenazah. tak dpt pegi sana .. tengok siaran langsung pun jadi la. dan for sure aku akan nangis2. tak best la kalau kena panggil bos time airmata tgh meleleh2.

tak pasti lah. aku tak selalu masuk thread ni. baca dalam paper je. hari jumaat ni we all kena pakai baju kaler suram2, ikut je lah. at least menghormati.

Ada 2 org klang.. Angeline & shaik. Body angeline yg jumpa dulu. So i guess she will be among the 1st batch yg bawa balik tu la.

Sadly, i'm not I kerja esok malam & only be back in kl pagi ahad

dengar pula lagu doa ku hadad alwi lagi rasa pilu...
(tv3 punya lagu untuk mh370 n mh17)...
nak tepek kat sini tak pandai...

orang melayu memnag suka bercerita berkenaan condition mayat masa jenazah dimandi, dikafan dan diturunkan ke liang lahad...
sebab tuh la ada drama Tanah Kubur..
