Rakyat will judge Najib, not Daim

Blogger Shahbudin says Pakatan Rakyat will be the real winner in the quarrel between the PM and the former finance minister.
 PETALING JAYA: Najib Abdul Razak’s supporters and apple polishers are dead wrong if they think their attacks against former finance minister Daim Zainuddin will result in increased support for the Prime Minister and his administration, according to Umno critic Shahbudin Husin.In his latest blog article, Shahbudin notes that the attacks have escalated in the mainstream media and that pro-Najib social media sites have taken up the cause with the objective of spreading the accusations against Daim further afield, sometimes inventing stories that go into the personal aspects of the former minister’s life. “As if all this is not enough, a video clip hinting of Daim’s sexual adventures is now being spread widely,” he adds. He doubts that the blitz would silence Daim, if that is the intention of Najib’s strategists. Shahbudin says Najib has more to lose than Daim in this game of attacks and counter-attacks. “The one who is going to face the rakyat is Najib,” he says. “Those who are attacking Daim should realise that his reprimands are meant to benefit Umno and BN as they prepare for the next general election. Generally, Daim criticised the weaknesses in Najib and his administration that have led to the deterioration of their public image. He has not attacked the character of Tun Abdul Razak’s eldest son. “Unfortunately, Najib’s admirers and sycophants have not made any attempt to respond to Daim’s criticisms. Instead they have launched attacks that use issues already played up by the opposition, and which are personal in nature.” He says Daim has little to lose since he is no longer in the government. “The one who will be judged by the people is Najib. There will be more stones thrown at his glass house.” He says Pakatan Rakyat will be the real winner in the quarrel between Najib and Daim.
