Jerusalem - Part One

I do not know how to write about this city! Honestly. Jerusalem - one big feeling! Living, pulsing somewhere inside experience that can not be locked in the definition. Innermost thoughts surprisingly dim when turned into words.
So far this post mainly photos and a brief comment. This is Jerusalem, as I uvedel it during our first meeting. Early in the morning on September 19th.
I was not looking for attractions. I was not interested in the ancient church. I never got into the Holy Sepulchre and probably not many other "mustsee". But I know that nothing important to me, I do not miss it
for the first time in the city, I was completely at random. He introduced me to a self. Showed that wanted to show.   


It was about 8 am. Most shops and stores still closed.

It was a "backyard" and is the main entrance. Ordinary life. From our different except that strict protection and inspection at the entrance to the school.



Each park in Israel - a man-made wonder. I'm a little get lost on the way to the Old Town and got into an ordinary residential area.

True, this city is so rich that there is not one such crypt and a few places that according to different sources could be the home of the Virgin Mary.



It is the apotheosis! Toilet in the abbey, and right next to the entrance to the archaeological excavations! There are no unimportant or holy places, even latrines have to build on ancient relics, simply because otherwise they will have nowhere to build.

Jerusalem - Part Two

В прошлый раз мое путешествие прервалось в Аббатстве Дормицион. The last time my journey was interrupted in the Dormition Abbey. Сегодня я продолжаю его у могилы Царя Давида. Today I keep it at the tomb of King David.
Какой еще город на земле может похвастаться таким сосредоточением святости? What other city on earth can boast such a concentration of holiness? И горя.. и агрессии.. и войны, которые живут здесь рядом, на каждой улице, за каждым поворотом. And grief and aggression .. .. and war, who live near here, on every street, every corner. Евреи молятся у гроба Царя Давида 24 часа в сутки. Jews pray at the tomb of King David 24 hours a day. В мужской половине здания всегда стоит неровный приглушенный звук голосов произносящих молитву. In the male half of the building is always uneven muffled sound of voices uttering a prayer.

Стену Плача или Западну Стену, что правильнее, обычно фотографируют только с мужской стороны. Wailing Wall or Western Wall, what is right is usually photographed only from the male side. Мы всегда ехали в Иерусалим на целый день. We always went to Jerusalem for the day. И каждого дня было мало! And each day there was little! Дети мои оказались очень выносливыми путешественниками. My children were very hardy travelers. Покорно вставали в 6 утра, целый день мы бродили по городу под солнцем и возвращались в 8-9 вечера. Obediently got up at 6 in the morning, the whole day we wandered around the city under the sun and back to 8-9 pm. Ходили мы приблизительно одним и тем же маршрутом, с маленькими ответвелниями, но каждый раз город был иным. Яффская улица около 9 часов утра. Jaffa Street at about 9 am. Иерусалим еще пахнет ночной прохладой, хотя солнце уже давно разрумянило восточные фасады домов. Jerusalem still smells fresh night air, though the sun has long been flushed eastern facades.

Ближе к старому городу. Close to the old town. Дядечка пел заунывные русские песни. Uncle sang mournful Russian songs. И что-то вроде: "Послушай товарищ, а может вернемся?"... Почему-то сразу захотелось посоветовать ему незамедлительно осуществить это желание. And something like: "Hey friend, and maybe come back?" ... Случайно заглянула в один из двориков за площадью. Accidentally peeked into one of the courtyards of the area. Это рядом с Яффскими воротами, почти в притык к ним. It is near the Jaffa Gate, almost in the butt to them.

От Восточной стены мы отправились на экскурсию в подземный Иерусалим. From the eastern wall, we went on a tour of the underground Jerusalem. Маршрут вывел нас на Via Dolorosa. The route brought us to the Via Dolorosa. Экскурсоводы пытались нас потом организованно оттуда вывести, т.к. Guides us then tried to bring out in an organized, as арабские кварталы небезопасны. Arab neighborhoods are unsafe. Но меня строить сложно. But I am hard to build. Я увильнула в боковую улочку и залезла на одну из крыш, чтобы разглядеть эту часть города получше. I dodged into a side street and got on one of the roofs to see this part of the city better.



Еще утром Давид обнаружил этих петухов у входа в одну из лавок и весь день про них помнил, когда мы наконец вернулись в этот район, он потащил меня показать петухов.
