It starts at the Jaffa Gate, where there was a center of trade and cultural life emerged from the medieval walls of the city: theater, a photo studio, the station stagecoaches. During the winter in the basin accumulated rainwater, for which then went out of the city all the hot summer. From infection with pathogenic microbes standing water protected thin oil film. Before you enter the water in a pitcher or barrel, the film was removed.Jerusalem water in those years smelled of kerosene. Nearby is another similar pool, a smaller size. It is from this pool (in Arabic "Mamilla") and gave its name to the street leading to it, and the whole area around.

The whole street today - as an exhibition and sale of works of art - mostly sculptures.

Old houses carefully photographed. On large-scale photographs produced counting all the stones of the facade, facades then dismantled and the stones were sent to the warehouse. At the site of the old houses built new concrete boxes. In the right places were windows and doors. For concrete workers came finishers and restored old facades.
