(Reuters) - French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Monday that one of the black boxes from the Germanwings plane that crashed in the Alps has been found.
"A black box that we found a few hours after the crash will immediately be examined to help the investigation move forward quickly," he told reporters.
He said the crash site would be secured this evening to ensure emergency services could more easily enter the area. |

Germanwings has crashed in the Southern French Alps with 150 people on board.
French President Francoise Hollande has told reporters that "the conditions of the accident suggest there would be no survivors."
The Airbus 320 plane, travelling from Barcelona to Duesseldorf, had 144 passengers and six crew members on board.
The aircraft dropped off the radar at around 11 am local time, news reports said.
President Hollande said the accident occurred in a particularly difficult area of access.
The plane belonged to Germanwings, a popular low-cost German carrier owned by Lufthansa.
Debris from the crashed airliner has been found, French interior ministry officials told news agency AFP.
The pilot had sent a Mayday call to Air Traffic Controllers, said officials.
A spokesman for the DGAC aviation authority said the airplane crashed near the town of Barcelonnette about 100 km (65 miles) north of the French Riviera city of Nice.
According to the website FlightRadar24, Germanwings A320 D-AIPX was one of the oldest aircraft operated by the airline and had been with it since 1991.
FlightRadar24, which tracks aircraft flight paths, said the flight had dropped 32,000 feet in the 9 minutes before it disappeared. |

Victims
Latest reports are 144 passengers and 6 crew aboard, Spanish government report 45 Spanish nationals, French government reports 0 French nationals, German government reports there are some German victims but numbers not known (German wings press conference reports 67), Sky News UK reports Turkish nationals on board. There were 2 babies.
The German victims include 16 pupils and 2 teachers from a Gymnasium (high school) at Haltern Am See, they were returning from an exchange visit to Spain.
Crew comprised 4 cabin crew and 2 flight deck. The captain had been with Lufthansa group for 10 years and had over 6000 hours on this plane type.
French rescue services believe there are no survivors. |

Crash site
The crash site has been identified by helicopters, it is not accessible by road and is around 2 and a half hours walk from the nearest road (reported Sky News UK). It is at an altitude of around 2000m. Search and rescue teams are en-route. There may be an avalanche risk which could hamper rescue efforts. Rescuers are assembling at Seyne-Les-Alpes. |
