HYUNDAI-SIME Darby Motors (HSDM) has updated its range of models yet again.

This time the firm has updated its Tucson SUV model with the new locally assembled (CKD) variant, and is now taking bookings for the face-lifted 2016 Veloster Turbo model as well.

Firstly, the Tucson mid-sized SUV is now offered as a locally assembled variant that rolls out of the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah. The CKD variant also boasts an upgraded features list across all variants, with notable highlights such as LED daytime running lights and leather seats coming as standard across all variants.

Retained is the 2.0-litre Nu petrol four cylinder engine with 156hp powering both the Tucson 2.0 Elegance and Tucson 2.0 Sport variants. Furthermore, the Tucson CKD also boasts a revised pricing scheme that is 10% lower than the fully imported (CBU) versions offered previously.

The Tucson 2.0 Elegance now carries a starting price of RM115,888 whilst the Tucson 2.0 Sport is priced from RM132,888 instead.

HSDM then followed up by opening bookings for the refreshed 2016 Veloster Turbo model. Previously unavailable in Malaysia, the high-performance variant of the brand’s unique and stylish 2+1 door hatchback is slated to make its debut on Malaysian soil sometime next month where it will be offered as a fully imported (CBU) model from South Korea.

The Veloster Turbo will feature Hyundai’s 1.6-litre T-GDI twin-scroll turbocharged petrol engine. Generating 184hp and 265Nm of peak torque, the mill comes paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission unit, a sport-tuned engine intake and exhaust note.

Other notable highlights include a more sportier exterior complete with LED headlight accents, LED tail lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as a sporty two-tone interior colour scheme. HSDM will reveal more details following the Veloster Turbo’s scheduled Malaysian launch next month.

The Korean hot-hatch is expected to fetch a selling price starting from the RM150,000 mark.
