Today, he called the 1MDB-Petrosaudi deal as a con-job and said that 1MDB instead of making USD488million from that deal, he said 1MDB lost USD1.1billion.
He based his logic on this:
1) PSI had created the shell company, 1MDB PetroSaudi, from scratch on September 18, 2009
2) Just 10 days later on September 29, 1MDB bought 40% of new shares in 1MDB PetroSaudi and injected RM1 billion in cash. The next day, US$700 million was taken out of 1MDB PetroSaudi and given to PSI to repay shareholding advances.
3) 6 months later, 1MDB then sold its 40% stake bought for USD1billion for USD1.2billion and convered it to a loan instrument and following two more loan extensions of US$500 million and US$200 million respectively in 2010 and 2011 to Petrosaudi International, 1MDB’s total Murabaha notes stood at US$1.9 billion,
4) 1MDB then sold all its notes for US$2.32 billion (from an original investment of USD1.7 billion (1b + 500m + 200m) - netting a profit of USD620million.
5) Tony said that "This is strange as 1MDB was not set-up as a money-lending company, said Pua, even more so given that much of 1MDB’s funds were themselves raised through short-term loans."
6) Earlier, Tony said that 1MDB lost the entire amount of USD2.318b in the Cayman Island funds - but the auditors, Deloittes later clarified that the first tranche of USD1.22billion was already redeemed and used to pay off debts and for working capital purposes.
7) And now, he says the remaining USD1.1billion is lost because auditors have not confirmed it yet and Arul have not shown him the account statements.
I am getting really pissed off at Tony for blabbering out the same shit all the time and never giving his zombies the full picture.
Firstly, the reason why the company was created in such a short time from scratch is because it was a special purpose vehicle - hence the name 1MDB-Petrosaudi!! How stupid are you, Tony?
The purpose of the company was that Petrosaudi injected their assets of USD2.7b (which included advances of USD700m that needed to be repaid) into this special purpose vehicle and 1MDB injected USD1billion in cash.
THIS WAS CLEARLY STATED IN THE JV AGREEMENT that Sarawak Report "exposed". (RECITAL A): http://documents.sarawakreport.org/petro-saudi-1mdb.pdf
Part of the deal is that 1MDB will only put in the money if it is satisfied that the USD2.7billion asset exist and is worth that much. Again, THIS WAS CLEARLY STATED IN THE JV AGREEMENT. (CLAUSE 5)
Somehow, Tony Pua missed out that part and forgot to tell his people. He can only remember USD700mil that needs to be repaid but cannot remember there is USD2.7billion of assets.,
Secondly, Tony Pua said 1MDB investment into this are from short term borrowings. WRONG AGAIN! TONY PUA, THIS IS FROM the initial 30 years Islamic bonds issued. I don't know how you can consider 30 years as short term.
And now, Tony Pua is implying the auditors of 1MDB are stupid or crooked or both. He is now saying that Deloitte's, one of the big 4 international accounting firms are no good. http://tinyurl.com/lteanky
Tony, why don;t you just say that Deloitte's pakat with UMNO-BN and are a UMNO-BN crony?
Why don't you also say that PetroSaudi, the Royal household of Saudi Arabia and Cayman island are UMNO-BN creation or cronys?
Tony Pua have been wrong with the facts and proven wrong numerous times on 1MDB but yet he continues to want to spin this.
I am absolutely convinced that Tony is using the naiveness, gullibility and the lack-of-knowledge of his supporters to con them.
If there was a con-job here, Tony Pua is the con-man.
If the auditors, Deloitte's can be believed (and they should as their professional reputation is at stake), then 1MDB should be praised on this PetroSaudi deal for exiting the deal at the right moment when the JV did not seem to be progressing well, protecting our money and turned USD1.7billion into USD2.32 billion - a profit of USD620million (RM2.25b) in a span of 4 years and also benefiting from FOREX gains.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2, 2015:
PetroSaudi Investments Limited has lodged a police report in connection with allegations made by a website on the firm’s relationship with Malaysia’s strategic development company, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The report was lodged with the city of London Police Action Fraud Unit at the National Fraud and Cyber Crime Reporting Centre at 3.45pm UK time (March 1).
Sources close to the company told The Rakyat Post that the police report was filed in relation to a series of articles by the Sarawak Report website, including one entitled “Heist of the Century — How Jho Low Used PetroSaudi As ‘A Front’ To Siphon Billions Out Of 1MDB!”.
The website claimed to have obtained access to documents and emails relating to transactions by 1MDB, including its initial joint venture with PetroSaudi from 2009.
The website had also claimed that the entire joint venture project was conceived, managed and driven by tycoon Jho Low.
In a statement released earlier yesterday, PetroSaudi “stated categorically” that all funds from 1MDB went to its owned entities, stressing that any other inference was false.
It said that it had paid 1MDB in full and both parties no longer had any further financial or legal obligations in the matter. |
