IPOH: Some 100,000 contract workers in the civil service throughout the country are in a dilemma as the government has decided not to extend their services after December 31, 2015.
Cuepacs president Datuk Azih Muda wants the government to continue to offer them employment.
"The abrupt termination of service will cause serious financial implications," he told reporters after attending a meeting of civilian staff from all state police contingents with Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar here today.
"How are the employees going to service the loans for their homes, vehicles, education and household expenses," he added.
Azih stressed that the performance of the contract staff is on par with permanent staff in the civil service.
He noted that if their contracts are extended, they would be able to change their career and move on to permanent posts or fill up vacant positions.
"Cuepacs hopes Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak will look into the plight of these group of workers," he added. |
