Johor prince posts ominous message on Instagram

JOHOR BAHRU: Johor prince Tunku Idris Iskandar has followed in his older brother’s footsteps by issuing a silent but ominous message on social media in the form of a screenshot on Instagram of what is believed to be the Johor state’s agreement to become a part of the Federation of Tanah Melayu.
The agreement that was signed by the late Sultan Abu Bakar states that the Johor Government agrees to sign it only if certain conditions are met.
The conditions included Islam as the official religion of the state; the land in Johor as being the absolute right of the Johor government; and most importantly, that the power of the Johor government lay in the hands of the sultan.
The agreement also says in no uncertain terms that should these conditions not be met that Johor would secede (keluar) from Malaysia.
The picture posted two days ago was not accompanied by any title or personal comment so it was unclear as to whom it was directed to or the purpose of it.
The comment section showed that most netizens had the prince’s back while others just wanted to see peace in the country prevail.
The image was posted after remarks by Minister of Tourism and Culture Nazri Aziz that the Tunku Mahkota of Johor not meddle in politics unless he was prepared to be “whacked”.
His older brother Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim had responded earlier to Nazri with a wordless video posted on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page where he made a defiant ‘come-on’ hand gesture.
Ketika Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim bertelagah dengan seorang menteri, adindanya Tunku Idris pula memuat naik tulisan berkaitan perjanjian bersama negeri itu dengan Persekutuan Tanah Melayu.
Perjanjian itu yang dimuat-naikkan di Instragram sejak Ahad lalu, antaranya menyebut Johor bersetuju menandatangani perjanjian 1946 dengan mengenakan beberapa syarat.
Ketika Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim bertelagah dengan seorang menteri, adindanya Tunku Idris pula memuat naik tulisan berkaitan perjanjian bersama dengan Persekutuan Tanah Melayu.
Perjanjian itu, dalam status di Instragram pada Ahad itu, antaranya menyebut Johor setuju menandatangani perjanjian 1946 itu dengan mengenakan beberapa syarat.
“Sekiranya mana-mana daripada syarat-syarat tersebut dilanggar, maka terkeluarlah Johor daripada Malaysia,” menurut tulisan dimuat naik itu.
Syarat-syarat itu, menurut tulisan itu, Islam menjadi agama negeri, air dan tanah negeri menjadi hak mutlak Johor serta askar timbalan setia tidak boleh dibubarkan.
Selain itu, perlembagaan negeri Johor tidak boleh diusik dan kuasanya terletak pada tangan sultan.
Tulisan itu juga menyebut, Johor dikenali sebagai negeri yang merdeka dan berdaulat ketika menandatangani Perjanjian Setia 1885 dengan British.
Hanya butiran perjanjian
Tiada sebarang status dimuat naik oleh Tunku Idris selain gambar butiran perjanjian itu.
Mengulas perkara itu, pengguna maya menyentuh pelbagai isu daripada kemungkinan Johor keluar Malaysia dan ada juga yang berharap baginda dapat bertenang.
Rakyat Johor semalam berkumpul di Johor Bahru bagi menyatakan sokongan terhadap kerabat istana setelah menteri pelancongan Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz menyelar Tunku Ismail.
Nazri antaranya berkata baginda tidak harus campur tangan dalam hal politik atau bersedia untuk 'dibelasah'.
Tunku Ismail sebelum itu mengkritik Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak kerana tidak hadir dalam dialog terus terang Notihing2Hide bersama NGO yang disertai Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Najib mengambil tindakan itu setelah dinasihatkan polis dengan mengambil kira faktor keselamatan.--MalaysiaKini
