KUALA LUMPUR, July 2, 2015:A couple’s plan to have sahur with some lemang during Ramadan turned into a nightmare as the lemang they bought contained a dead frog.
The picture of the lemang with the “black coloured” amphibian which was uploaded by Facebook user Farah Adila has since gone viral on social media.
According to the picture’s caption, Farah and her husband had to abort their ‘sahur’ plans, put off by the obnoxious sight.
“Terbantut sahur si suami…Gara2 makhluk ni y elok parking dlm lemang y dibeli kat bazaar smlm…Kecut perut laki bini..terus loya nk mkn pe pon..(We had to discontinue our sahur due to this frog. We bought the lemang at a bazaar, yesterday. We felt nauseated by the sight.),” posted Farah
Speaking to The Rakyat Post, Farah said that she and her husband had bought the lemang at a Ramadan bazaar in Jalan Kuching.
“The bazaar was a big one and my husband loves lemang. We noticed only one stall in the bazaar selling lemang and we purchased three pieces.
“As we had already broken fast with other food items, we decided to have thelemang during sahur. The piece with the frog was the first that we cut open.
“Initially my husband thought it was merely a burnt piece of banana leaf, but when he tried to dig it out, only then did we realise that it was a dead frog,” she said.
The picture which was uploaded via her Facebook page irked many netizens and has since received over 76 likes and 169 shares.
Pernah experience jugak, beli kat kedai lemang deret zoo tu. Katak mcm ni gak. Smpai skrg tak mkn lemang buluh. (I’ve gone through the same experience, bought lemang at bazaar across the zoo area. Same frog experience. After that, I’ve not been able to eat any lemang.),” commented Zra Zainuddin, a Facebook user.
“xdpt nk bayangkan kalau sape yg da termakan air katak tu… (I can’t imagine if anybody has eaten frog-flavoured lemang.),” commented another Facebook user, Nurul Sparkletts.
