Msian police to quiz Justo next week BY HARIZ MOHD - 23 OCTOBER 2015 @ 1:50 PM

KUALA LUMPUR: A team of police investigators will leave for Bangkok next week to record a statement from former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the team will be led by a senior officer from the Federal police headquarters.

"I expect our team to secure the interview next week. "Our counterparts in Bangkok have given the approval for us to question Justo and acquire documents related to our probe. We are currently still in discussion to find the right time to do this.

"The date has yet to be finalised as Justo also has his case management in court," he said. Khalid was speaking to reporters after the closing ceremony for the Master's Degree of Social Science Programme (Policing Study) and Diploma of Investigation Science Session 2013/2014 at the Royal Malaysian Police College here, earlier today.

Justo, who is being jailed in Thailand for blackmailing his former employer, was sought after by the Malaysian police to facilitate investigation into issues surrounding 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

On police investigations against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Khalid said several quarters had misconstrued them as probes into the latter's involvement in Bersih 4 rally in August. He said police are investigating Dr Mahathir over the former premier's alleged defamatory statements during the rally.

Yesterday, Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said police have opened three investigation papers under Section 500 of the Penal Code, which touches on defamation and carries a two-year jail term, a fine, or both upon conviction.

"Of the three, one has been completed and referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) on October 9 for further action," Zahid had said in a written reply to a question by Cheras member of Parliament Tan Kok Wai (DAP), who had asked for the outcome of the investigation and what action would be taken against Dr Mahathir.
