Thomas Poole was given a 22-year prison sentence after pictures were discovered of the attack online.
An undercover officer tracked conversations in chatrooms in which he posted the pictures, some showing that he had tied the baby up.
Judge Christopher Critchlow considered sending him to prison for the rest of his life because of the risk he poses to young children.
He told him: ‘These offences took place when she (the baby) was between six and 18 months old.
‘Anybody who has heard of the matters will possibly wonder how anybody could behave in such a depraved way.
‘It’s difficult for a court to imagine a worse case of the breach of trust of a baby. You didn’t only do physical assaults, you took hundreds of images.’
In total he was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court for 14 counts including oral and anal rape of a baby girl.
Prosecutor Wendy Cottee said there was a large cache of child porn on Poole’s computer. He had also posted ‘advice’ on how he carried out the attack.
He initially denied the claims telling police ‘this is ridiculous’ before pleading guilty.
Poole wrote letters to family members from prison in which he wrote: ‘Please do not make me out to be a monster.’
He was jailed for 22 years with an extended licence period of eight years, placed on the Sex Offender’s Register indefinitely and made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Rebecca Kilpatrick of the Surrey Police Safeguarding Investigation Unit said: ‘The sentence reflects the severity, enormity and seriousness of the offences committed by this dangerous paedophile.
‘He used his position of trust in the most deplorable manner and his actions have caused immeasurable harm to his victims and those close to them.’
