Police: Five homemade bombs found in Damansara Perdana apartment
PETALING JAYA: Five homemade bombs were found by police early Sunday at an apartment unit in Damansara Perdana which forced the evacuation of some 200 residents.

Petaling Jaya OCPD  Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said the bombs, which were located in an "inner area" of the unit of the 23-storey block, have been moved to a safe area. The bombs were taken to a nearby quarry and detonated.

"Two suspects, both locals, are at large. The unit was rented," ACP Mohd Zani told reporters.

He said the 200 residents of the block were evacuated as a safety precaution.

It is learnt that police also found syabu and ecstasy pills in the apartment.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel left the scene at 11.40am while police continue to conduct their investigations.

Residents were in shock upon learning of the bombs in their apartment block.

An owner, identified only as Martin, who has lived there for half a year, said he was sleeping when police raided the unit but was awakened by neighbours at around 8.30am.

"Everybody was knocking on everybody's door to let them know of the evacuation. This place is quite quiet and this is the first time something like this has ever happened," said Martin.

At around 11am, a person who looks to be the owner of the unit where the bombs were found was seen talking to the police. He brushed off requests for comments by the media.

Kuala Lumpur: Polis memburu Ng Woon Chieh @ Ah Chong, 37, kerana disyaki memiliki lima bom buatan sendiri yang ditemui di sebuah kondominium di Damansara Perdana pagi tadi, malah suspek juga sudah meletupkan bom di sebuah rumah di Jalan Wan Empok, Sri Petaling, di sini, awal pagi tadi.
