A Catholic priest invited a Victorian boarding school student into his office to play computer games, then gave him a soft drink spiked with a sedative and raped him on the floor, a court has heard.
Prosecutors allege Michael Aulsebrook, 60, attacked the Year 7 student after lights out one night late in the 1980s, when he was the boarding co-ordinator at Salesian College in Sunbury.
Aulsebrook has pleaded not guilty.
Andrew Grant, for the crown, said Aulsebrook watched his victim play games on the computer for about half-an-hour before giving him the drink.
The prosecutor told the Victorian Court Court on Tuesday the victim would give evidence that he woke up on the floor of the office while Aulsebrook was raping him.
"He felt a large amount of pain," Mr Grant told the court.
"The accused was pushing (the victim's) face into the floor."
Afterwards Aulsebrook is alleged to have said to the student: "Get out of my sight. You disgust me."
He invited the boy to come and play games several more times, but the student refused.
During a police interview in 2012, Aulsebrook said he didn't have any games on his computer in his office, the court heard.
When the rape allegation was put to him he said it was "absolutely rubbish" and definitely didn't happen.
Defence barrister Megan Tittensor told jurors they needed to keep an open mind and put aside publicity surrounding the Catholic church.
"It has no bearing on this case," she said.
"Consider how difficult it would be to defend yourself following an allegation this many years later."
Ms Tittensor said Aulsebrook emphatically denied the charge.
The trial continues before Judge Geoffrey Chettle.
