Muslim Uber Driver Took Advantage Of Blind Woman, Now He’s Paying For It

Jade Sharp has been blind since birth and uses Uber quite often, relying on the service to perform her daily activities. However, she recently had a huge problem with a driver for the company, landing them both in court, after what the horrible Muslim man did to this vulnerable blind woman, who only needed a ride home.

Jade, who is 23 and lives in the UK, has been creative in making the best of the challenges that face her since being born blind. She has a beautiful best friend in her guide dog, Brodie, who helps with some of the obstacles she faces.

Unfortunately, Brodie obviously can’t drive, so Jade is forced to rely on the Uber driving service to get around. However, when she called Uber for a ride home from a concert with another friend, the Muslim driver stated he would not take her dog.

[Mohamed] Mohamoud, of Tulse Hill, south east London, cancelled on Miss [Jade] Sharp, who was with her blind friend Vanessa Smith, 21, after she explained that the five-year-old working dog would be coming with them. The pair were leaving a concert at Fairfield Halls, in Croydon, south London, at around 9:30 pm on May 7 when she booked a minicab using the Uber app.

She told Mohamoud, “I have got a guide dog travelling with me.”

He said, “I don’t take pets.”

And she replied, “He is not a pet, he is a working dog.” [via Daily Mail]

Unfortunately, Mohamoud disagreed, and when Jade threatened to report him, he basically told her to “go ahead” and cancelled her trip. Jade did one better than just reporting it to his company, she took it to court with the help of a British prosecutor who learned of the blind woman’s plight. That one case has turned into eight separate cases, against eight Muslim men who are refusing to pick up blind people with their service dogs.

The horrible Muslim man, Mohamed Mohamoud, 51, lied on the stand, saying he did not refuse her. He alleged that his allergies to dogs prevent him from taking service pets.

However, it’s quite strange how all the Uber drivers refusing to take service dogs are all Muslim. There’s another likely explanation, which Mad World News has reported on before:

In Iran, typical Islamic governance of Sharia law outlaws dogs as pets, as they are considered unclean and are even believed to harbor demons. As such, many canines are often abused and tortured out of anger or delight. Just last year a bill was drawn up in Iran that will completely outlaw ownership of dogs for any reason, punishing offenders with up to 74 lashes.

Luckily, the judge wasn’t buying his excuse, and Mohamoud was convicted and hit with a ￡1,546 (over $2,250) fine at Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court. Sometimes the good guys do win, and Jade Sharp is happy with the outcome. Uber has fired four of the drivers, while the other four await the outcomes of their trials.
