Deepika to romance Ajay in Prabhu's next?

The southern superstar who has had repeated successful runnings at the Bollywood box office with his remakes in the form of Wanted and Rowdy Rathore, is now set for another directorial venture.

This time Prabhudeva is all set to make an original action comedy with Ajay Devgn in the lead. But the latest that Times of India reports is that it's none other than Deepika Padukone who is being heavily considered as the female lead opposite Ajay.

Prabhudeva would like this unusual pairing for his upcoming project a source told the publication.
"Deepika has never worked with Ajay and Prabhu feels their chemistry is yet to be explored on screen. Also, Prabhu always goes for unusual pairing. In his next, the hero will be a hardcore character while the heroine will be a soft and emotional character. Much like the Salman Khan-Ayesha Takia and Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha pairing in Wanted and Rowdy Rathore, respectively, which created quite a buzz."

If everything falls into place, Dips should be part of the project as soon as she finishes shooting for Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express and Prabhu's ABCD hits the screens. "Meetings have taken place but nothing is finalised yet. A decision will be taken soon," added the source.

While Deepika hasn't spoken on this project yet, we'd love to see if she and Ajay can recreate the same magic that was seen with Ayesha-Salman and Akshay-Sonakshi.

Dabangg 2 still strong at Box Office

No one can beat the Dabangg Khan. He's a man who's constantly competing with himself.
And some of the videos we've seen with the audience going crazy during Fevicol Se and what not, we know that Dabangg 2 is definitely creating a stir.

After making a whopping 66 crore in its opening weekend, Dabangg 2 is still going strong.

On Monday, the film garnered roughly 12 crore nett, and broke the record of the highest non holiday Monday collection of all time. Funnily, the previous record for the same was held by Dabangg back in 2010 with 10.75 crore nett. The highest Monday collection is held by Ek Tha Tiger, but that was a holiday for Eid.

The film had an advantage with a midweek holiday in the form of Christmas on Tuesday. The film made a whopping 16 crore nett roughly on Christmas. It was given competition by the India vs Pakistan cricket match, and may have hindered on some of the collections thus. The film could have made roughly 2 crore more. This brings it at par with the collections of Ek Tha Tiger that it made on Tuesday, which was a regional holiday for the latter. Overall, it is merely a measly 6 crore behind Ek Tha Tiger in first 5 day collections. Additionally, Dabangg 2 has now made records in many provinces.
Overseas too, the film is doing well and has managed 21 crore nett in the opening weekend. Experts claim that the film will manage to add much more to its overseas total.

This brings the first five day collection of Dabangg 2 to a good 94 crore nett.

The next two days are the real test for the film, and how steady it remains will determine its lifetime business. However, with festivities continuing on till after New Year, and no major release till the 4th of January 2013, the film should continue making a steady profit and easily manage to get into the 100 crore club.
Will it beat Ek Tha Tiger? Only time will tell!

alman and Abhishek meet up like buddies!

As we always say, no permanent enemies and no permanent friendships in Bollywood.

And one of the most notorious relationships of Bollywood had an interesting twist recently when Aishwarya Rai's ex-boyfriend Salman Khan and her husband Abhishek Bachchan came face to face once again at a party.

Industrialist Sunny Dewan and his socialite wife Anu held a party on Christmas Eve at their Bandra residence. And while the whos-who of filmdom was present including Akshay and Twinkle, Riteish and Genelia, Ranbir Kapoor et al, what really caught our eyes was the healthy conversation between Abhishek and Salman. Even after the party was over, Salman and Abhishek continued burying their hatchet into the wee hours of the morning.

According to what sources told Times of India, the two actors were seen having a one-on-one conversation in a quiet corner over a few drinks. Says a source, "Salman came in around 2.30 am, much after his best friend Sajid Nadiadwala had left the venue. In a flash, he put an arm around Abhishek and the two walked into a corner to chat." Their camaraderie was so positive, that onlookers were surprised to the core.
This isn't the first time we've seen the two being cordial to each other. And all in front of Mrs. Rai Bachchan, who maintained a distance from the duo throughout the party. This was sure a shocker!

Amongst other uncomfortable turned comfortable relationships were Gauri Khan who arrived alone, but Salman was cordial towards her. Ranbir, however, stayed away from ex Nandita Mahtani.

These pleasantries are sure going over our heads!

Shah Rukh Khan 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' tracks in acoustic covers

Shah Rukh Khan's tracks from Jab Tak Hai Jaan have been covered by a non-Hindi speaking UK performer.

Ris Lev - a part-British African and part-Russian singer - has released his own versions of the film's music through his YouTube channel.

Challa lyrics as posted by Shah Rukh Khan on Twitter

"I like singing in Hindi/Punjabi, playing my guitar, and all things Bollywood. With my YouTube videos, it's a fun way for me to connect with other people who like Bollywood," Lev told Digital Spy.

"I've covered all of the Jab Tak Hai Jaan songs except 'Jiya Re', and only because I can't figure out the chords."

Lev's guitar interpretations of AR Rahman's music have been described as acoustic stripped-back versions of the original.

"I play at this speed, as that's the tempo that seems to come most naturally to me when I play the guitar, it feels fun to play that way," he added.

Ashanti Omkar, who is Bollywood Editor for Cineworld Cinemas, said of the singer: "I came across Ris when he used to work at The O2 and he was always keen to discuss the newest Bollywood releases. I was taken aback at how he enunciated the words, and how he delivered the songs in his own inimitable style.

"He made Bollywood his own. Upon digging deeper, he told me about how he was British African and Russian - a very unusual mix.

"I'm so proud to see how Bollywood in cineplexes has allowed it to reach so deeply - beyond Asian audiences in the UK - and has touched the likes of Ris."

Watch Lev perform a mix of 'Challa', 'Saans' and the Jab Tak Hai Jaan title song below:

Top 10: Bollywood's best scenes from films in 2012

From Bob Biswas almost pushing a heavily pregnant Vidya Bagchi in front of an incoming Metro train, to poignant scenes from Barfi, films in 2012 had moments that are worth reliving.

At the top of the list is a scene that tugs at the heartstrings, from Anurag Basu's 'Barfi'. When Priyanka Chopra gets her shoes dirty, Ranbir Kapoor squats to clean them in the river water, not unlike a mother, and later the two hop along with their shows hanging by a stick to dry. There are many such endearing moments in Barfi, but scenes between Priyanka and Ranbir are bittersweet and memorable.

The horrific scene, that almost stops your heart - Bob Biswas, played by Saswata Chatterjee, almost pushes a pregnant Vidya Bagchi (Vidya Balan) on to the tracks, in the way of an incoming metro train in Kolkata.

The tragic scene in which a hungry housewife is forced to run crying out of a shop because she cannot communicate in English with the impatient saleswoman, is one of the best in English Vinglish. Sridevi, as the simple housewife Shashi, brilliantly emotes the humiliation and frustration of a woman unable to speak the language that rules the world.

Agneepath - one of the first films to come out this year - has a terrifying entry by Sanjay Dutt who plays the antagonist Kancha Cheena. The sheer impact of his entry is sure to knock your breath off - with his menacing, kohl rimmed eyes and tonsured head.

Manoj Bajpayee, brilliantly underplays a scene as Sardar Khan, during which he meets a Bengali Hindu girl named Durga played by Reema Sen. As Womaniya plays in the background, Sen and Bajpayee lock eyes in a silent battle of lust.

'Beehad mein Baaghi hote hain, dacait milte hain Parliament mein', says Irrfan in this unforgettable scene from Paan Singh Tomar. A former athlete, forced into crime due to poverty and neglect, Paan Singh's life comes alive in Tigmanshu Dhulia's film.

A yearend list is incomplete if it does not feature at least one scene of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, undoubtedly one of the best actors of our time. In a high speed, but awkward chase down a railway platform, Siddiqui, playing Taimur in 'Talaash', meets his fate not only in bullets from his opponent's gun but also as an apparition that hints towards the twist in the story.

Prosenjit Chatterjee, a huge name in Bengali cinema, plays a Dr Ahmadi, a social activist in Dibakar Banerjee's Shanghai. This screen grab from a rally in the film was taken minutes before he is mowed down by a van triggering a chain of events that sustains the film.

Shoojit Sircar's Vicky Donor was one of the best films of 2012, with a cast that completely owned their individual parts. There are many memorable sequences, including the famous drinking scene of Vicky's mother and grandmother. However this last scene stands out as Vicky, a sperm donor, meets the children he has helped give birth. He is understandably stumped hearing that he is the biological father of all of the kids.

Bol Bachchan, another hit of 2012, has a terrific entry by Abhishek Bachchan playing an effeminate twin Abbas Ali to the protagonist who calls himself Abhishek Bachchan. He lies to get out of a sticky situation and Bachchan ends up surprising you with his sheer lack of inhibition as he portrays a dance teacher to second female lead Prachi Desai.

Freida Pinto to Make her Bollywood Debut[Mid-Day Report]

Source: MID DAY

Freida Pinto became an overnight sensation after her first film Slumdog Millionaire won a bevy of international awards, be it the BAFTAs or the Academy Awards. The actress went on to star alongside Hollywood hottie James Franco and even inked a film with Woody Allen. But what remained on everyone’s mind is when she would actually sign a Bollywood film.

Looks like Freida is gearing up for her first Bollywood film. And according to sources, Udaan Director Vikramaditya Motwane and Navdeep Singh have been working on a script that they have offered to her. A source says, “While her films abroad haven’t really worked wonders for her career, she has managed to stay in the spotlight thanks to her immaculate dressing sense and her so-called exotic looks. But this film could change her fortunes.”

Earlier apparently, Shoojit Sircar had approached Freida for his upcoming John Abraham starrer. Our sources add that Motwane asked his friend Navdeep (Manorama Six Feet Under) to make a film for his production house. We hear that the film will be heroine-oriented and the script has been penned by Navdeep.

A source close to Freida says, “Both Vikram and Navdeep felt that Freida would suit the role. She has liked the script and will take a call soon.” While he doesn’t deny the buzz, all that Navdeep says is, “It is too early to comment.”

Katrina's shocking in-flight manners!

Looks like Kats is not such a goody-goody after all.

According to a fellow passenger in a recent flight, Katrina Kaif showed her not-so-friendly side as she refused to communicate with the flight attendants herself. Every time she needed something, she would ask her manager to convey the message. Even for a glass of water, Katrina's manager had to ask.

A source told Mumbai Mirror, “Basically every time when Katrina boards a flight, she sits with her manager. When the flight stewardess comes to greet her or ask her about her food preference, she simply turns to her manager instead of talking to the flight attendant directly. She would then tell her food preference to her manager who would then convey it to the stewardess.”

Apparently and surprisingly, this isn't the first time Katrina has been rude in a flight. A few years back, Katrina lashed out at a stewardess when she was woken up from her sleep and asked to fasten her seatbelt. No one saw it coming, especially as it was simply a reminder of flight rules.

Her behaviour in flights remains the same no matter where she is going. “Katrina’s in-flight manners were once narrated by an airhostess in a television show. The actress refuses to talk to the stewardesses and communicates through her manager seated next to her – even for a bottle of water,” the source added.

However, she very conveniently changes her behaviour as soon as she reaches ground level.

“She is very sweet to her fans and often poses for pictures at airports and even indulges kids wanting to take her autograph. Thus for people travelling with her, it’s quite a disconnect between her in-flight and onground avtars,“ said the source.

Looks like someone gets riled 'up in the air.'
