Jericho Rosales a hit in Malaysia

ACTOR Jericho Rosales was in Kuala Lumpur recently to shoot his scenes for the Malaysian movie titled "Bilut," according to his manager, Allan Real.

Jericho is playing a Filipino who studied documentary filmmaking in a university in Brussels, Belgium. His lines will be in English, said Real, a handler from Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent center.

The actor should be home this week. "Then he's going to Belgium to shoot more scenes," Real told Inquirer Entertainment in a phone interview.

Real said principal photography for "Bilut" started a while ago and that the producers had merely waited for Jericho's availability.

The actor has been busy shooting for Star Cinema's "Nasaan Ka Man" and taping for ABS-CBN's upcoming program, "Panday." Two other actors-a Thai and a Latin American-were considered for Jericho's role in "Bilut," Real said.

Jericho was picked, the manager said, "because he's really popular in Malaysia."

Jericho is on account of his soap operas, "Pangako sa 'Yo" and "Sana'y Wala ng Wakas" that the actor has a strong fan base in Malaysia, Real noted.

Jericho, Kristine Hermosa and several other Filipino stars are regarded by Malaysians as exceptionally good-looking, according to a source that Inquirer Entertainment talked to during a recent visit to KL.

"Bilut" is set for exhibition in Malaysia next year, and is intended for release in other Asian countries, Real said.

Three days before he left, Jericho met the entertainment press to talk about his new movie, "Nasaan Ka Man," which also stars Claudine Barretto and Diether Ocampo.

Jericho said the focus of the story is the love triangle formed by the central characters.

'Panday' update

The trailer suggests some sexiness, but Jericho hastened to point out that he doesn't get to show even his behind.

He made it clear, though, that his contract with ABS-CBN doesn't prohibit him from exposing some skin on the big screen.

As for the much-anticipated small-screen adaptation of the fantasy series made popular by the late Fernando Poe Jr., Jericho said he's re-shooting some scenes for "Panday" because the production has decided to drop Melissa Ricks, the actress tapped to be his leading lady, from the cast.
"Melissa, who's only 14, is not prepared for the demands of the role," Jericho explained.

The actor also swore he was loveless at the moment. He denied rumors that he had reconciled with his immediate ex, Cindy Kurleto, but said he was happy at the way Cindy's career as a veejay and model was shaping up.

I heard there's a new soap opera entitled Hiram(Borrowed) that will be shown here some time. It just had ended in the philippines in May 2005. Believe me, it's really a good soap opera! Im also hooked on this. It's a high-quality and first class soap opera, u bet. Hiram is also from ABS channel 2 like the pangako sayo, kay tagal, and etc.

And for those who want to know what soaps that has been showing on right now in the philippines(ABS channel) are:

-Mga Anghel na walang langit (Angels with no Heaven) - actually this is not a love story like other soaps but it's actually for the kids. Dramatic show that is.

-Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin (You are Everything To Me) -
starring:
John Lloyd Cruz(yuri and lawrence)
Bea Alonzo ( Katrina and Cielo)
Shaina Magdayao ( I guess you havent heard from her yet. In real life, she's the bestfriend of Bea Alonzo)
Angelika Dela Cruz ( she's the one from Sanay Wala ng Wakas as Mary Ann)
Diether Ocampo (oh! one of the hottest actors in the philippines!)
Claudine Barretto ( from Mula sa Puso as the leading lady named Via)

-All powerhouse casts... if youd like to know, they're the most in-demand actors in the philippines.

And there are still soap operas and fantaseryes(like that of marina) still coming on philippine television only in the number one station in the philippines - ABS-CBN channel 2.

COMING THIS YEAR: (on philippine television yet)

Kampanerang Kuba - starring Anne Curtis (she played Stephanie in HIRAM)
                           Now, she's the leading lady on this soap or fantaserye.
                           She's kind of mysterious here. Her character is like that
                           of the cartoon series Hunchback of Notre Dame.
                           Yeah, she is a hunchback in this soap/fantaserye.

Vietnam Rose - starring the Diamond Star of the philippines Ms. Maricel
                  Soriano. She's 40 years old in real life. with powerhouse casts
                  also. I havent seen the full trailer of this new soap but im
                  sure this is going to be another big hit.

Panday - wanna know the leading man of this new fantaserye or soap?
         None other than Mr. Jericho "ECHO" Rosales... We dont know who
         will be his leading lady..(i hope it'll still be Kristine Hermosa). It's
         gonna be shown here on June 20 or i dont know the exact date.

I'd just like to add some additional information with the ones I quoted. I'm also a Filipino.

Ang Panday (The Blacksmith) - is one of the most anticipated action soap here in the Philippines. It's actually an adaptation of a famous movie of the same title here in the Philippines. The concept is basically about a metalstone from the heavens that fell and was forged and molded into a weapon by "The Blacksmith". Jericho is expected to give justice to this challenging role as he always has in any project he undertakes. This soap would probably involve more swordfights than drama. For those who want to witness a more active and action heroish type of Jericho, this soap is the one to watch out for. "Ang Panday" could be considered a Philippine version of "Dungeons and Dragons". It involves medieval settings, magic, fantasy creatures and the classic good vs. evil theme. Jericho is sure to kick evil butt in this soap using his sword forged with the stone from the heavens. The story isn't really going to be a love story but would be more focused on the struggles and hardships Jericho/The Blacksmith would have to face and overcome.
