Berat badan Durratun bukan isu

揧a, berat badannya naik sedikit terutama selepas berehat panjang kerana cedera.

Jasa apa yg dia tabur kat malaysia? Takde langsung!

Tahu ambik duit, kononnya "fake injury" pas tu lari. Dio tu tak hebat, just lucky je...

Org camni bukan atlit betul le................. Kito patut sokong gimrama krn atlit benar cam farrah-hani imran (Ratu petama sebenar malaysia) thye chee kiat, rosniza abu bakar, lam swee kim dan sebagainya.

Gymnastics: Universiade last chance for duo
By : Ranjini Thangaraju

Durratun Nashihin and Chrystal Lim (inset) will head for Greece in a bid to
secure their first Olympic berth.

THE World University Games (Universiade) in Bangkok on Aug 8-18 will be rhythmic gymnasts Durratun Nashihin Rosli and Chrystal Lim抯 last chance to gauge their standards before the World Championships in Patras, Greece on Sept 13-14.

The two, along with Foong Seow Ting, will head for Greece in a bid to secure their first ever Olympic berth.

However, the gymnasts have less than a month to increase their points from the 14 to the preferred 15 mark bracket, said Malaysian Gymnastics Federation (MGF) head of technical committee and team manager, I. Paramaspathy.

"The gymnasts are doing well, but it will be good if they can move into the 15- point bracket from their current 14-point bracket."

It may not guarantee, but it can improve their chances of securing an Olympic berth as most of the gymnasts at Olympic level, score in the 16-point range.

"The Universiade will be their final avenue to work on this goal as there are no more competitions for them after that," said Paramaspathy.

The World University Games is the second largest global high performance multi-sports event after the Olympics and in many sports, is of a comparable or higher standard than the Commonwealth Games.

Paramaspathy added that Seow Ting will head for Slovakia for the World Cup Series in Ljubljana, from Aug 31 to Sept 2 as her final preparation before the world meet as the Universiade.

"The target we have set for Durratun and Chrystal is to finish among the top 20. If they achieve this, then their chances to do the same in Greece are great as the Universiade is a very high level competition."

At the world meet, only the top 24 gymnasts, including four wild cards, will qualify for the Olympics. Each nation is limited to two entries.

Seow Ting, Chrystal share common goal at world meet
By RAJES PAUL

KUALA LUMPUR: Rhythmic gymnasts Foong Seow Ting and Chrystal Lim came close of breaking the 15-point barrier for the first time in recent international championships.

And the duo are now more determined to achieve breakthrough performances in the World Championships in Patras, Greece, from Sept 9-23.

The championships are qualifiers for the 2008 Olympics and it is a tall order for Seow Ting and Chrystal to finish among the top 24 in the individual all-around to make the grade to the Beijing Games in August.

Seow Ting was placed 31st out of 43 competitors in a World Cup Series in Slovenia last week with a score of 57.725.

In her pet event, clubs, she posted 14.875. Her scores in the other events were 14.025 (ribbon), 14.375 (rope) and 14.500 (hoop).

揑t was my highest overall score in a tournament but I am still disappointed because I failed to get a score above 15 points in any of the apparatus. There were several mistakes, especially in the hoop,

Double dose of good news for Jaime
By RAJES PAUL

KUALA LUMPUR: It was a day of double joy for Jaime Lee Yoke Jeng in the National Open Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships at Gymnasium Two in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

The 17-year-old Jaime has been named as the replacement for Durratun Nashihin Rosli for the World Championships, which will be held in Patras, Greece next week.

She will leave on Tuesday with Foong Seow Ting and Chrystal Lim.

And based on her performances in the national open yesterday, Jaime, who finished as the third best in the individual all-around, has also been named as one of the team members for the Korat SEA Games in December.

The others in the squad for the Korat Games are Seow Ting, Chrystal Lim and petite Wan Siti Haniza Wan Izahar.

For Jaime, it will be her first world meet and SEA Games outings.

The senior gymnast, who trains under chief coach Elena Kholodova was not surprised that she was named as the last minute replacement for Durratun for the world meet.

Durratun, who won five silver medals at last year's Commonwealth Games, has been on medical leave since Aug 8 for not being in the right frame of mind for any kind of training or competition.

揑 was also recalled to replace Durratun at the last minute before the Asian Games (in Doha last December). This is not new. As a national gymnast, I am always on my toes. I will be ready for the world meet,

Door always open for Durratun: Team manager

KUALA LUMPUR: The absence of national rhythmic gymnast Durratun Nashihin Rosli in the National Open Rhythmic Gymnastics at Bukit Jalil yesterday has raised questions on her position in the national team.

But team manager P. Ramalinggam said the door would always be open for the winner of five silver medals in last year's Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

She can still fight for a place in the team for future major tournaments when she gets back to training.

The 19-year-old Durratun has been on medical leave since Aug 8 for not being in the right frame of mind for any training and competitions.

By not appearing for the national meet yesterday, Durratun's name has been dropped from the squad for the World Championships and Korat SEA Games.

揌ow are we to consider her for any tournaments if she has not been in training. In fact, she has only competed in one international tournament this year,

Golden harvest expected from our girls in Korat

PETALING JAYA: An Olympic dream has ended for the national rhythmic gymnastics team led by Foong Seow Ting.

But based on their performances in the recent world championships in Patras, Greece, the team showed that they were good enough to be the big winners in the Korat SEA Games in December.

At the world championships, Seow Ting, Chrystal Lim and debutant Jaime Lee failed to get among the top 24 in the individual all-around event to make the grade for the Beijing Olympics next year.

But the consolation for the Malaysians was the better finish than SEA Games archrivals Thailand in both the individual and team events.

The 18-year-old Seow Ting was the top Malaysian performer in 61st place followed by Chrystal (66th) and Jaime (90th). The Thai number one Tharatip Sridee was placed at number 89.

In the team event, Malaysia finished in 20th spot
