KAPB Aims To Increase Membership To 100,000 By Year-end
KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) — Koperasi Amanah Pelaburan Bhd (KAPB), a registered cooperative, hopes to have 100,000 members, with a total fund size of RM500 million, by year-end through its partnership with Bank Rakyat.
The cooperative now only has 10,000 members and a total fund size of RM100 million.
KAPB Executive Chairman Datuk Ilyas Mohamed said the cooperative would tap into Bank Rakyat’s branches, nationwide, to increase and simplify the application process for potential members.
“Bank Rakyat branches will facilitate the application process for potential members. We are targeting Bumiputera members from urban and rural areas with an income of not more than RM300,000 a year,” he told reporters after announcing a 15 per cent dividend for 2015 which was a departure from the previous year when no dividend was declared.
He also disclosed that KAPB would maintain its investments in automotive, mining, domestic and foreign financial markets as well as real estate investments.
Meanwhile, Bank Rakyat Chairman General ® Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal said the cooperation would also benefit the bank in terms of increasing the customer base.
“With this facility, all customers who wish to become a member of the cooperative can make an application and open a savings account with any Bank Rakyat branch, nationwide,” he added.
On the bank’s outlook, Managing Director and President Datuk Mustafha Abd Razak said Bank Rakyat expected its loans growth to increase between five per cent and seven per cent in the current financial year, albeit, a slower economic environment.
The bank will announce its 2015 financial performance next month.

KAPB umum dividen 15%

We Have No Connection With KAPB Operations, Says Bank Rakyat
KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's largest Islamic cooperative bank, Bank Rakyat, today clarified that it has no connection with Koperasi Amanah Pelaburan Bhd (KAPB).
In a statement, Bank Rakyat said as a banking institution, it had carried out strategic collaboration with various parties in order to provide value-added services to its members and clients.
"In the case of KAPB, Bank Rakyat only served as its agent to handle the registration of KAPB's members through our branches," it said, adding that the public should not feel confused over Bank Rakyat and KAPB's association as they were two separate entities with different businesses.
