it was just a music festival. why is it so famous? so much out cry? why it become talk of the town till today?

Woodstock 1969, Dikatakan satu escapism utk orang-orang muda Amerika pada masa itu tidak gembira dengan peperangan dgn Vietnam. It was held in some place in near New York, 70km from a place called Woodstock.

sy tulis balik ni, dengan memetik kdg2 secara verbatim dr wikipedia n blog-blog (kang complaint plak kate sy ambik dr wikipedia,, like duh).

4 orang anak muda bertanggungjawap mengadakan festival ini. Mereka berumur 27 tahun atau lebih muda. Mereka sebenarnya mahu mencari keuntungan dgn menganjurkan festival music ini.Mereka adalah John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfeld dan Michael Lang.

Lang pernah menganjurkan sebuah festival iaitu Miami Music Festival pada tahun 1968. Manakala Kornfeld adalah VP termuda untuk Capitol Records. Roberts dan Rosenman usahawan dari New York. Mereka berdua membina recording studio di Manhattan.Mereka kemudiannya menubuhkan Woodstock Ventures, Inc., dan kemudiannya come out with music festival idea.

Creedence Clearwater Revival adalah nama besar pertama yg sign in dan menjadi tarikan utk festival ini.

Woodstock dari concert berbayar menajdi satu festival percuma.

The respond was overwhelming, banyak benda yg 4 org budak ni kena buat. Tetapi concert goers keep coming days before the event. The organizer x sempat pun nk pasang pagar, pasang ticket booth or tandas bergerak. Even food stall pun x sempat set up.

According to Lang, in an interview with The Telegraph, “You do everything you can to get the gates and the fences finished—but you have your priorities. People are coming, and you need to be able to feed them, and take care of them, and give them a show. So you have to prioritize.”

Oleh kerana logistic dah fail, mereka pun memutuskan untuk menjadikan ini sebagai concert percuma, yeaaa

Aku ada baca Joan Baez juga seorang activist - civil, gay, lesbian, anti war movement.
Santana and Jimi Hendrix pun perform.
Kalau buat kat Malaysia, penuh dengan Indon n Nepal. free plak tu.

Penganjur menjangkakan crowd seramai 50,000. Tapi menjelang August 13, crowd dh mencecah 100,000.

Asal nya Woodstock festival ni nak buat kat Willkill, NY tapi kemudian nya di pindah kan ke Bethel. Mcm yg kita semua tahu budaya hippie dan woodstocks memang tak dapat di pisah kan. Bayang kan pesta yg penuh dgn muzik, sex , dadah dan alkohol. Sampai ada yg kata konon nya dadah tu semua depa buat mcm jual hotdog jer. Kata nya jugak masa pesta woodstocks tu hujan turun dan kawasan tu penuh dgn lumpur jugak. Tapi tak ada violence atau sebarang keganasan yg tercetus masa pesta nih berlansung. Lagipun antara yg diperjuang kan masa tu adalah “love and peace “gitu. Biala dah berkasih sayang wajib lah aman damai , ya dok? So semuanya aman2 ajer jah! Ada lah kot yg behaving badly tapi tak de lah sampai ber tembak bagai. W/pun hampir 1/2 million org yg hadir masa pesta tu cuma 2 org jer yg mati.. sorang sebab terlebih ambik dadah(drug overdosed) dan sorang lagi kena gelek dgn tractor ..sebab mamat tu tidur terbaring dalam sleeping bag kat bawah tractor ..dan org yg bawak tractor tu secara tak sengaja tergelek mamat tu. Aku pun tak tahu cerita tu betol ke tak sebab tu lah info yg aku dapat.
Boleh baca buku dan tengok jugak movie tajuk “Taking Woodstock” arahan Ang Lee . Pengarah yg sama buat filem “Life of Pi” tuh..

Masa Woodstock cuaca x menentu, hujan n such. So they enjoy the concert in muddy conditions, makanan yg x mencukupi n of course less hygiene.
Tapi this festival berlangsung dgn sgt harmony. Less of violance. I read somewhere they share food with stranger.

Ada yg attribute this harmony n peace kepada slogan hippies iaitu 'making love not war'. Oh some people there take the slogan literally n make love whenever they are in the mood there.

Tapi Ade juga mengaitkan keamanan ini dengan
psychedelic dadah yg digunakan semasa enjoying the concert.

Security issue was big at the festival.tp penganjur enggan mengunakan kekerasan n x nk polis terlibat sgt. Hanya ad dozen of them to watch over 500,000 crowd.

Hence the Wavy Gravy came in. The peacemaker. When asked apa yg akn digunakan utk rule the crowd Wavy Gravy ckp dia akn baling pie to the unruly n sembur air dgn seltzer bottle.

Semasa 3 Hari concert berlangsung dilaporkan 8 pregnant ladies miscarriage, sorang teenager kena gelek steamroll n sorang lelaki mati overdose.

That 17 yrs old boy tengah tidur dlm sleeping bag Masa steamroll dtg gelek beliau.
