copy kat sini lak...ada post ari tuh..cam seswaii jer...

petikan dr Mingguan Malaysia....

maklumat lanjut..bacalah MM...

HISTORY OF PARIT RAJA.

In the books of the famous Malay writer Muhammad Ibrahim Munsyi (Abdullah Munsyi), it was mentioned there are two wealthy and well developed villages in the area of Padang namely Kampung Orangkaya Haji Junid (Village of the Rich Man Haji Junid) and Kampung Orangkaya Ringgit (Village of the Rich Man Ringgit). Kampung Orangkaya Ringgit is called Parit Raja.

Taha bin Benut, original settlers of Parit Raja village. He is from the family of Orangkaya Ringgit. He was an intellectual and aggressive man who was dedicated in developing his people. Born in 1862 and died in 1945.

The village of Parit Raja was opened by Orangkaya Yusuh Bin Bonjol in 1852. Among the things that made this village significant is Balai AlMarhum Sultan Abu Bakar (Office of the late Sultan Abu Bakar). Here was where His Mejesty met with village leaders of Padang during his trips from Teluk Belanga (in Singapore). Here, His Mejesty had a wife called Cik Puan Fatimah, a daughter of Orangkaya Ringgit.

The most important natural resource of Parit Raja is Pinang Kotai.

In academic development, Parit Raja was the first village to introduce the reading of "Nazam" among the mothers community. After the opening of Johor Education Office in Johor Bahru in 1883, this village have built Sekolah Melayu (Malay School). The teachers came from Teluk Belanga (in Singapore). After three years, the school had to be closed due to lack of support from the community. The people then still held strongly to the traditional education system.

There was also a famous bloody tragedy happened in this village. The incident was called Lembing Awang Pulang ke Dayang (Awang's Spear Returned to Dayang). The tragedy is a source for a few Syair (a form of classical Malay poetry). These classical poetries are still kept in this village. The poetry below describes the lifestyle of the people here:

Zaman Tok Kaya Ringgit

Badannya kecil lagi pendek

Perintah ia tiga ruang parit

Pakai pedang jalan meleret
The times of Tok Kaya Ringgit

His feature is small and short

His authority is three rivers wide

Wear a sword, walk with a drag

Batu Pahat sungai sarang buaya

Tiga dengan Parit Raja

Orang Besar daulat Seri Maharaja

Orang miskin jadi kaya
Batu Pahat a river home of crocodiles

A third with Parit Raja

Nobles authorised by Seri Maharaja

The poor becomes rich

Mystic River

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By E. Andrew Eccleston (SharpInk.net)

Mystic River is the latest offering by director Clint Eastwood. I loved his previous movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and this effort is just as impressive. It seems to me from watching this movie that Eastwood is a real actor抯 director. The strength of this movie is the awesome performances Eastwood draws out of this extremely talented cast.

Eastwood has Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon, Sean Penn and Lawrence Fishburne at his disposal. He makes great use of them in this story. The movie revolves around three boyhood friends. The friends who drifted apart are brought back together by the murder of Jimmy抯 (Sean Penn) daughter. Each of the characters was changed by a tragic event in their childhood and they are changed again by the murder.

The story is engrossing but another dimension is added by the brilliant performances. I was so engrossed by the performances that I was even able to forget what idiots Penn and Robbins have made of themselves as of late. My only complaint is that the end is a bit muddled. It ends as it inevitably must but has a hard time finding resolution. I give Mystic River 3
