Sebelum kita lanjutkan dengan pertanyaan dan resipi saffron ni ... meh kita menuntut ilmu dulu ... kayakan pengetahuan kita tentang salah satu herba paling mahal di dunia ni.
The most precious and most expensive spice in the world: Saffron.
The Saffron filaments, or threads, are actually the dried stigmas of the saffron flower, "Crocus Sativus Linneaus". Each flower contains only three stigmas. These threads must be picked from each flower by hand, and more than 75,000 of these flowers are needed to produce just one pound of Saffron filaments, making it the world?s most precious spice.
But, because of saffron's strong coloring power and intense flavor, it can be used sparingly. Saffron is used both for its bright orange-yellow color and for its strong, intense flavor and aroma.
Crocus Sativus Linneaus contains crocin, the source of its strong coloring property, bitter-crocin, which offers the distinctive aroma and taste and essential oils which are responsible for its therapeutic properties.
Saffron is available both in filaments and powder, though the long, deep red filaments are usually preferable to the powder as the latter can be easily adulterated.
Today, the greatest saffron producing countries are Greece, Spain, Turkey, Iran, India, and Morocco.
The largest saffron importers are Germany, Italy, U.S.A., Switzerland, U.K., and France.
Preparation and Storage
Because of its expense, intense flavour, and strong dying properties, very little saffron is required for culinary purposes and the key is to distribute it evenly throughout the dish being prepared. It can be crushed to a fine powder in a mortar and pestle. It is easier however, to steep the saffron in hot water |

sekarang baru boleh tanya ... sesapa tau masakan apa yang sesuai guna saffron ni? saya ada 2 peket kat umah tapi tak tau nak buat apa. pernah masukkan dalam nasi yang ditanak ... tapi takat tu je la. since benda ni mahal .. cam ala-ala segan nak guna. hehehhehe ... cer citer sesapa yang tau. esp sifu masakan kak lieza :hatdown: hehehhe |

orang india ada juga mencampurkan saffron ke dalam susu & minum. tujuannya tak ingat tapi kalau tak silap untuk kecantikan atau kesihatan. |

safron ni rendam dalam air panas... untuk pengaliran darah yang lancar... biasa dengar dicampur dalam masakan tapi tak berapa arif. |

masa ngandung dulu ada minum air rendam saffron ni tapi towards the end of the pregnancy .. stop sebab takut baby kuning. tapi dah nak kuning, tu kuning gak baby tu .. hehehhe

saffron ni zafran ekk? so, air musoffa tu dibuat dari saffron ni la. benda mahal bebeno kan? banyak khasiat tu.. tapi camner blh jadi isu satu ketika dulu. seingat saya, mak saya selalu guna benda ni buat masak nasi beriyani |

saffron ni koma2 in Malay tapi kalau tak silap saya yang jadi topik hangat pasal kat kedai mamak dulu tu ialah kas-kas which is poppy seeds...mintak maaf kalau salah ya.. |

Saffron ni memang digunakan untuk masakan. Selalunya dimasukkan dalam nasi briani. Rendam dulu safron ni dalam air panas. Lepas tu bila nasi dah masak curahkan kat nasi. (Utk colouring).
Tapi safron ni mahal harganya. Orang lebih suka gunakan pewarna je. Yang kata ada dadah tu rasanya bukan koma-koma tapi kas-kas |

ada jg soulha beli gred A..sini,1grm 20pound mesir..tp wallah ltk skit jer..harum..dn warna dia cantik...diorng panggil za'faron. |

soffron dr spain mmg antara yg terbaik..cam sllu dikata, saffron nie..kegunaan dia untuk mewarnakan nasi..warna dia akan jd kuning..tp klu yg ok..mmg ada bau skit...tp wangilah bg soulha..sllnya soulha tk rendam klu nk msk nasi apa2...contoh klu nk wat nasi beriani masa msuk bahan cecair(air/susu) boleh ltkkan saffron nie...didihkan skit mskkan nasi...ada jg setengh msuk nasi dulu...pun boleh ltkkn saffron nie..kemudian sisusuli air....cuma jng letak kt last sudahlah.... |
