People of the current 21st century are the bunch of people that look forward to the future. A good sign for civilization to achieve the peak of their development, however, with the advent of technology society are becoming more merciless each day. Rape cases, frauds, breach of trust and others. Why? Perhaps it is time for us to reflect all our doings and also our contribution towards society. Muhasabah diri and reflection diaries are good methods to keep track of watever we have done.
Maybe it is time for us to change the mindset of our society. Yes, it is true that the Western culture is enviable by Asians for their courteousness and 'high-society' characteristic. Even though most of the earliest civilizations (e.g. Mesopotamians, Hindus and China empires) originated from this region but the society state of the current time is dispecable.

About 2 months ago, i read a book about Narcissism.
It was a fulfilling read and it changed a bit of my perspective and conciousness.
At the end of the book, i think again and found out that Sikap Mementingkan Diri Sendiri is actually stemming towards NPD. weird because in Asian society which most of us had our own religion, we are supposed to take care amongst each other instead of makan kawan2 dan org2 sekeliling kite.

Thus, the relevance between the intro and Narcissistic characteristic is that most of us forgot our grounds to be in this world. perhaps our little personal agenda had suppress the people around us and we evoke a sabotage and revenge desires against us.

So here i reveal to you a read that is simple yet eye-opening:

Translation: Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is apattern of self-centered or egotistical behavior that shows up inthinking and behavior in a lot of different situations and activities.People with NPD won't (or can't) change their behavior even when itcauses problems at work or when other people complain about the waythey act, or when their behavior causes a lot of emotional distress toothers (or themselves? none of my narcissists ever admit to beingdistressed by their own behavior -- they always blame other people forany problems). This pattern of self-centered or egotistical behavior isnot caused by current drug or alcohol use, head injury, acute psychoticepisodes, or any other illness, but has been going on steadily at leastsince adolescence or early adulthood.
     NPD interferes with people's functioning in their occupations and in their relationships:
Mild impairment when self-centered or egotistical behavior results in occasional minor problems, but the person is generally doing pretty well.
Moderate impairment when self-centered or egotistical behaviorresults in: (a) missing days from work, household duties, or school,(b) significant performance problems as a wage-earner, homemaker, orstudent, (c) frequently avoiding or alienating friends, (d) significantrisk of harming self or others (frequent suicidal preoccupation; oftenneglecting family, or frequently abusing others or committing criminalacts).
Severe impairment when self-centered or egotistical behaviorresults in: (a) staying in bed all day, (b) totally alienating allfriends and family, (c) severe risk of harming self or others (failingto maintain personal hygiene; persistent danger of suicide, abuse, or crime).


In simple words:
Narcisssm = egotism, self-admiration, self-love, vanity

it's the price we have to pay for all the development and urbanization.
semakin kita maju, kadar jenayah semakin meningkat, keruntuhan akhlak dan moral semakin menjadi jadi.
i live in a country that far behind from malaysia.everything is quite 'kuno' tp thank god the crime rate is very low.

Narcissus
A Boeotian hero whose archaic myth was a cautionary tale warning boys against being cruel to their lovers.

Old Mythology...

In Greek mythology, Narcissus or Narkissos (Greek: Νάρκισσος), was a hero of the territory of Thespiae in Boeotia who was renowned for his beauty. Several versions of his myth have survived: Ovid's, from his Metamorphoses; Pausanias', from his Guide to Greece, (9.31.7); and one found among the Oxyrhynchus papyri.

Pausanias locates the spring of Narcissus at Donacon 'Reed-bed' in the territory of the Thespians. Pausanias finds it incredible that someone could not distinguish a reflection from a real person, and cites a less known variant in which Narcissus had a twin sister. Both dressed similarly and hunted together. Narcissus fell in love with her. When she died, Narcissus pined after her and pretended that the reflection he saw in the water was his sister.

As Pausanias also notes, yet another tale is that the narcissus flower was created to entice Demeter's daughter Persephone away from her companions to enable Hades to abduct her.

In his Metamorphoses, Ovid tells the story of a graceful and pretty nymph named Echo who loved Narcissus, in vain. Narcissus' beauty was so unmatched that he felt it was godlike in scope, comparable to the beauty of Dionysus and Apollo. As a result, Narcissus spurned Echo's affections until, despairing, she faded away to nothing but a faint, plaintive whisper. To teach the vain boy a lesson, the goddess Nemesis doomed Narcissus to fall in love with his own reflection in Echo's pond. Entranced by his own beauty and enamoured with his own image, Narcissus lay on the bank of the river and wasted away staring down into the water.

Different versions of the story state that Narcissus, after scorning his male suitors, was cursed by the gods to love the first male that he should lay his eyes on. While walking in the gardens of Echo he discovered the pond of Echo and saw a reflection of himself in the water. Falling deeply in love with himself, he slowly wasted his days in awe of his reflection. When Echo came to see him one day he cried out, "Alas, Alas," and she replied to him with the same words, the most that she could say. He quietly turned away and died. The nymphs mourned him and planned a funeral pyre on which to burn his remains. All that was left in his place was a beautiful flower of white petals stained with purple inside that now bears his name.

tapi fikirkan balik kekadang kite tak sedar apa perception org terhadap kite. sometimes kite takkan ckp yg kite ni vain ker, xtra conscious about ourself ker sbb kite tak nampak from our side, but people see us like that.
this NPD yg i feature ada section yg mcm checklist to check whether do u diagnosed having NPD or not.
the funny thing is i would think that EVERYONE of us, even me...yes even me i admit having a bit of vainness in me. hahaha....kena buat therapy ke tidak nih???

sometimes this treatment is really for the needy though. the ones u think they need help from a very obvious NPD disease. mcm org yg xtra selfish yg sangat sangat sangat menjengkelkan.

This disorder can be taken into order when we dun take it too far...sometimes we need to be selfish or vain, in terms of having confidence in urself...but too much might not be good...and perceived urself so that others won't walk over you by being a doormat...since doormat has no NPD but more on having a wallflower syndrome...or the Prufrock's or Mitty's syndrome...which would altogether not such a good trait too if having too much of it...

Korang pernah tak jumpa atau berkawan atau relative korang sejenis yang diaaa je betul, selfish, suka maki hamun, suka abuse, suka mengamuk bak orang hilang pedoman, atau suka tentukan apa orang lain patut buat..

"Mengikut Diagnostic and Statistic Manual of Mental Disorder (DSM), Gangguan Personaliti Narsisis (literalnya translation haha) ialah sejenis gangguan yang disebabkan oleh faktor genetik dan persekitaran. Biasanya anomali dalam perlakuan manusia memang disebabkan oleh faktor biososial sebab mental manusia ialah sesuatu yang dibentuk oleh mental dan pengaruh persekitaran. Samjay?
Untuk seseorang tu dikatakan sebagai pesakit narsisis, beliau mestilah mempunyai sekurang-kurangnya lima simptom di bawah ni.
Simptom Gangguan Personaliti Narsisis (Narcissist personality Disorder)

• Poyo gila (grandiose sense of self-importance)  - Seperti yang dinyatakan di atas, dia rasa dia lah centre of the earth dan dia power dalam segala hal walaupun takde pencapaian yang kita boleh nampak. Kalau dia memang power, dan dia berlagak, rujuk point akhir
• Berangan dia power - tak sudah-sudah berangan yang dia akan dapat kejayaan tanpa penghjung, cinta yang ulung, kekayaan tak habis makan lapan juta keturunan padahal takde apa pun. Blergh
• Bajet dia unik - orang biasa macam weols tak boleh nak faham dia. Hanya expert dan orang berkuasa je boleh faham pemikiran dia. Mkay
• Kalau takde orang yang sanjung dia, tak boleh hidup
• Orang bagi reward pada kerja dia ialah sesuatu yang wajib - buat kerja tak banyak mana
• Hobi masa lapang termasuklah memanipulasi orang - Spesies mengadu domba, melagakan orang, menggunakan orang
• Tiada empati - Tak boleh nak rasa apa yang orang lain rasakan. Pergunakan orang sebab rasa seronok dan untuk capai matlamat sendiri tanpa fikirkan apa yang orang tu rasa.
• Suka jelly dengan orang lain - atau bajet orang lain jelly dengan dia
• Peel dia memang suka berlagak in general"
