Pada saat ditemukan pada tanggal 19 Desember, mayat Rasputin telah mengambang di atas sebuah celah es dari sungai yang telah membeku. Polisi kemudian melakukan otopsi dan berikut hasilnya :

1. tidak ada racun ditubuhnya hanya alkohol.

2. 3 luka tembak ( Dada kiri, tembus ke perut dan mengenai liver. Punggung kanan, tembus mengenai ginjal. Dikepala mengenai otak )
