Feb 21, 2024 | 3.27 GB Soniccouture Grand Marimba offers an impressive 70 velocity layers to ensure a deeply immersive playing experience. Derived from the African balafon, the modern marimba originated in Mexico and is characterized by wooden bars positioned over metal resonator tubes, which are adjustable using stops. The Yamaha 6100 sets the standard with its exclusive precision tuning, Honduran Rosewood bars, and welded resonators ensuring a rattle-free performance. TREMOLO FLOW:
Tremolo, an immensely expressive marimba technique, is faithfully replicated through our original Kontakt module, offering unparalleled accuracy. It effortlessly accommodates 1 to 4 voices of harmony, as marimba players typically use up to 4 mallets, and dynamically adjusts the tremolo in real-time based on MIDI input or your playing style. You can dynamically modulate the speed and velocity of the Tremolo using a MIDI controller. The Humanise controls further enhance natural expression, subtly varying the timing and velocity of sequences, allowing compositions to breathe and flow organically. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL:
The main Instrument panel features ADSR controls, a filter section with envelope modulation, and stereo width adjustment with Flip. Articulation switches are located in the lower half of the panel. SAMPLING THE MARIMBA:
Sampling the marimba posed challenges due to its massive size, nearly 3 meters across, making it difficult to maintain a sensible stereo image when recording too closely. To achieve the desired intimate, non-ambient recording, we required a very large yet relatively dry studio environment. You'll need KONTAKT 6 or KONTAKT 6 PLAYER version 6.6 or higher.
