Aston Martin Vanquish – the new AM 310 arrives

Aston Martin has announced the debut of its new Vanquish, and the Super Grand Tourer rolls in offering the latest take on the brand’s iconic visual language. The AM 310, as it’s known as, is also powered by a significantly upgraded 6.0 litre V12 engine.

The new Vanquish features a number of styling cues derived from the One-77, such as the elegant new waist, elongated side strakes and LED rear light blades. Also to be found, a new Aero Duct on the rear boot lid, designed to counteract lift at the car’s rear when travelling at speed.

Meanwhile, the significantly revised naturally-aspirated 6.0 litre V12 petrol mill – mated to the proven Touchtronic 2 six-speed automatic gearbox – offers 565 hp at 6,750 rpm and 620 Nm at 5,500 rpm.

Performance specs include a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 295 km/h. It’s all good enough to make it AM’s most potent production model, aside from the limited-edition One-77.

Elswhere, each body panel on the car is constructed from carbon fibre to offer weight savings, while torsional rigidity is up by more than 25%. Practical improvements abound too, such as a newly designed and significantly more spacious cabin and a boot that, at 368 litres, is more than 60% larger in volume than that of the DBS.

First deliveries of the vehicle, which is available as a 2+2 or 2+0, are expected to begin late this year.
