ETCM - THE OFFICIAL CAR SPONSOR FOR AXIATA CUP 2013

Kuala Lumpur (3 April 2013) – Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) is pleased to be appointed as the official car sponsor for Axiata Cup 2013 from March 21 to April 14, 2013. ETCM has always been supportive towards both national and international events that help put Malaysia on the world map.

“We see this collaboration with Axiata Cup as part of our contribution towards the development of badminton in Malaysia as a premier sport in this region,” explained Dato’ David Chen Yuen Thiam, the Executive Director of ETCM.
As the official car sponsor for this event, ETCM is proud to sponsor one unit of the newly launched Updated 2013 Nissan TEANA 2.5L, with the all-new black leather interior and sportier exterior styling.

In pursuit of Nissan’s concept of “the vehicle that helps protect people”, the multiple award-winning Nissan Teana delivers a full complement of safety technology such as the SRS airbags system that deploys automatically in the event of severe impact, ABS to maintain the directional control of the vehicle to avoid wheel lock-up, EBD to optimize the rear brake force and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) to automatically control the stability of the vehicle when sensors detect that the vehicle may slip sideways, due to steering, braking or accelerating.  In addition, the Nissan Teana now has a new safety feature – the Blind Spot Warning System, which gives drivers enhanced situation awareness thus reducing the risk of collision.

Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata), one of Asia’s largest telecommunications companies, and in collaboration with the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) and Total Sport Asia (TSA), Axiata Cup was conceptualized, offering prize money of USD1 million, dubbed as badminton’s richest team event championship.

An exclusive mobile content was introduced for this event known as the ‘Axiata Cup: The Greatest Fan’, for which badminton fans will need to subscribe into the info Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and answer daily questions for 14 days related to badminton, Axiata Cup or Celcom. This ‘Axiata Cup: The Greatest Fan’ mobile content makes it possible for badminton fans to gain information and tournament details, besides posting questions related to the Axiata Cup. The top winner for this contest will stand a chance to win an Updated 2013 Nissan TEANA 2.5L.

In conjunction with Axiata Cup, exciting on-ground activities which includes ‘Guerilla Stunt’ and ‘Mobile Roadshow’ awaits the public at different locations within Klang Valley. These two activities will incorporate mind-blowing games designed for badminton fans. On top of that, ETCM is also sponsoring the Nissan ALMERA as transportation to ferry crews to the different roadshow locations. As this is part of the promotion campaign for Axiata Cup Up Your Game YouTube Contest and Axiata Cup Fantasy Badminton, badminton fans would stand a chance to win ticket vouchers to the Axiata Cup.
The Axiata Cup features 8 teams from 6 different countries participating over a period of 4-weeks which includes Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Philippines. The semi-finals and final will be held in Kuala Lumpur on April 13th and 14th, 2013 respectively. Alternatively, there will be direct live telecast on Astro Super Sports, Channel 811 at 1:00pm.
