In a quiet ceremony in Amman Thursday, Jordan’s Prince Hamzahmarried pilot Basma Bani. The bride, age 26, is a Canadian who’sparents are Jordanian.
For the wedding, King Abdullah II, Queen Rania and Queen Noor were in attendance, as well as the bride’s family.
A lunch banquet was held at Basman Palace after the ceremony.
This is the second marriage for the former heir to the Jordanianthrone. Hamzah was previously married to a distant cousin, PrincessNoor, whom he has a daughter with. The two quietly divorced a few yearsago.
The Prince became the Crown Prince of Jordan upon the death of hisfather, the late King Hussein. But in 2004, King Abdullah II dismissedHamzah of his position and made his son the Crown Prince.

i was in jordan last july for prince rashids wedding...it was ver simple yet grand n no protocol....free seating....nearly all european monarchs n roal family were there.... we sat where ever we like, food was buffet style ...i found so relaxing n i told my husband, ths is hw i want my childrens wedding to be like......n to follw arab custom, only the men send dowry n gifts...the girls do not give the men anything ok...that should be the way! |
