Dao Manzil berasal dari sebuah hadis yang dinukil oleh MuhammadYusuf al-Kandhalawi di dalam kitabnya: "Syarah Hayah al-Sohabah"(tahqiq Muhammad Ilyas al-Barih Bankawi; 4 jld, Dar Ibn Kathir, Damsyik2000), jld 4, ms 84, (Bab Bagaimana Nabi s.a.w. dan para sahabatbermunajat kepada Allah dengan berdoa).

Shaikh Muhammad Yusuf menukil daripada kitab al-Kanzi, jld 1, ms 212,di mana doa tersebut dikatakan dikeluarkan oleh Ahmad, al-Hakim danal-Tirmizi.
