PRESS RELEASE OF JOSHUA Y.C. KONG - Deputy President of CASH. 2nd May 2008
A MAYHEM but positive MESSAGE IN 2008
From the data of the Immigration Department, Sabah as illustrated in Table below, 82,669 Malaysians left Sabah for good for the five years when in the period 1995 to 2002 702,094 Malaysian also did the same making a grand total of 784,763 Malaysians over the last 13 years. The question here is who are these people really?
152,940 extra Bruneians left Sabah for the period 2003 to 2007 while another 151,195 extra Bruneians had also left Sabah for the period 1995 to 2002 making it a grand total of 304,135 over the last 13 years. How did these extra Bruneians enter Sabah in the first place? In the absence of the proper investigations, it would appear that these people are non Bruneians but obtained the document - fake or otherwise to travel to foreign countries as most countries do not require visa for Bruneians.
699,632 Indonesians did not leave Sabah for the said period of 4 years (2004-2007) while another 628,180 did not leave Sabah for the period 1995 to 2003 making a grand total of 1,327,812. Without proper explanation on this mind boggling number, many assumptions can be given. They have simply disappeared without reasons. Most likely these people have taken up MyKad, or the Bruneian passports or simply move in and out of the porous land and sea borders without detection. Such scenarios are very undesireable to be accepted in term of security and sovereignty for Sabah.
80,424 Filipinos who likely arrived via the airports in Sabah did not leave Sabah for the five years while unknown and countless numbers have turned up in Sabah via the long coastline. Many do think they can stake the claim on Sabah when it is a dubious claim right from 1878 and earlier.
There had been plenty of talks on the issues of identity cards to the illegals via the project IC or project Mahathir, the Federal Task Force under Musa Aman as Chairman and other socalled leaders of the nation and the State according to the bulky and testimonies/ evidence loaded books of Mutalib MD.
So all these figures do somehow fill in parts into the zigsaw of the numbers of illegal or dubious citizens. The writing is all on the walls but the Parliament is not serious on resolving this and instead spend more time on squabbles over petty items.
Sabah is likely now with a population of 3-4 millions but the majority of that is dubious people and this is definitely the root (rotten system) of all our problems without an end in sight. We cannot build a nation with illegal people.
A Royal Commission of Inquiry is a must unless we are dithering surely towards anarchy already very much prevailent in illegal Governments of the birds in the same feather.
