Samsung is Asia's top brand

SHANGHAI: Consumer electronics groups Samsung, Sony and Apple have taken the top three places in Campaign Asia-Pacific's latest annual survey of the top 1,000 brands in the region.
Produced in partnership with research firm Nielsen, the 11th annual Asia's Top 1000 Brands 2014 report covered 13 markets and detailed findings about the top 100 brands in each country will be released in the coming weeks.
Technology brands dominated the top ten rankings with Samsung heading the list for the third year running while Sony overtook Apple to take second place even though the Japanese firm recently posted a net loss of $1.3bn for the year to March.
Panasonic, LG and Canon took fifth, sixth and eighth positions respectively while Nestlé, the Swiss food group was ranked fourth – the only FMCG brand to make the top ten. Adidas, Nike and Chanel rounded out the remainder.
Despite facing increased competition from other smartphone brands, such as Xiaomi of China, Samsung emerged as the top brand in ten regional markets – Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
Sony topped the rankings in the remaining three markets of Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Turning to brands outside the top ten, Campaign Asia said luxury brands performed well with Rolls-Royce climbing by at least 40 places along with Hermès of France and Peninsula hotels.
Elsewhere, Garuda, the previously troubled Indonesian airline which nearly didn't make it into the top 1,000 brands last year, climbed an impressive 420 place to 545.
At the same time, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines both fell 15 and 20 places respectively.

bukan soal posisinya yang saya soroti disini, tapi kenaikannya, saya tahu Air Asia posisinya lebih tinggi, tapi lihat, saya tidak tahu apa ada brand lain yang bisa naik sampai 420 tingkat dalam setahun... luar biasa Quantum Leap nya garuda...  |
